I knew a remake of the 1974 Charles Bronson hit was on the cards and I'd read that Sylvester Stallone was the favourite for the role of vigilante Paul Kersey but it looks like Bruce Willis has actually landed the role and that they've already started shooting in Chicago so there's a change of location from the originals New York Setting happening as well!
Also it is being directed by Hostel director Eli Roth and co stars Elizabeth Shue and Vincent D'Onofrio.
Anybody got any thoughts on how they think this one might turn out?

There´s never enough vigilante films in this world so i´m kinda looking for to this one.
This is Willis´ chance to come back once again so i hope that they will make the film gritty enough.

Well, that's exactly what i'm afraid of. The original was about a man who turns vigilante, without ever catching the thugs who harmed his family. My guess is the remake will turn out to be a straight-forward revenge-themed action movie. Nothing wrong with that, of course.. but the original Death Wish had more to it.

And let's not forget that Death Wish already has one unofficial, unnecessary remake: Death Sentence (2007, directed by James Wan of Saw fame and starring Kevin Bacon, based on Brian Garfield's sequel to his novel Death Wish. It's not bad but kind of a bland B-movie.

I'd forgot about Death Sentence and it's connection to Death Wish,it was an OK film but by the 30 - 40 minute mark when Bacon is being pursued by a group of Thugs waving guns through a busy city centre in broad daylight you knew that all sense of reality had long flown out the window!
Makes me sort of wonder if they'll try to reign Eli Roth in a bit because he can go to extremes at times,be funny if he done something along the lines of Death Wish 3 with Willis taking on hundreds of Chicago hoods while telling everyone that Wildey's coming!

Death Wish 3 was the last of the series that I saw in a theatre. "My friend Wildey." "Who is this Mr. Wildey?" ROFL The Wildey .475 Magnum--and just like in the film, you have to hand load the rounds like Bronson does since they don't make any factory ammo. I didn't even know that it existed until a couple of years ago, but a fantastic website is www.imfdb.com, Internet Movie Firearms Database. I still can't believe the level of detail they have, right down to the hero of the anime Cowboy Bebop used an Israeli Jericho 941 9mm. That's unbelievably obscure, but sure enough, if you watch the episodes, the animators gave the hero that cool gun. And the database got it right.
