i was having a discussion the other day, the topic was who was the scariest individual, Frank Booth from Blue Velvet or Dr. Hannibal Lecter.
i thought this would be a fun idea for the rewind, not only this topic but other ones to debate as well
so let me know what you think and if you have any good ideas for debate, post them.
i think frank booth wins but not by much
Posted by Johnny Roarke is reckless (Member # 9826) on :
I'd say Frank Booth as well.
Not only because Blue Velvet is my all-time favorite movie, but also because i'd consider Frank Booth to be dangerously unpredictable. More so than Hannibal Lecter. Dr. Lecter may be the more calculating type whereas Frank Booth is more of a loose cannon whose mood can change drastically within seconds.
Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :
that was my reasoning as well, then again lecter ate a census taker just for doing his job
Posted by Dutch Gannon (Member # 10167) on :
I like Booth in a fight, but to tell you the truth if I had to go up agianst either one of them, Lecter seems a bit more scary, I almost feel like Booth might let me go as long as I don't anger him. But Lector would just see me as a big Filet Mignon... Alright ground chuck!
Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :
Yeah, I figure if I didn't look at Frank he might not hit me
Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :
here is something that was suggested to me
which school would you rather go to
ridgemont high or shermer high
Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :
another topic of debate
who was funnier
rodney dangerfield caddyshack 1 or
jackie mason caddyshack 2
Posted by aTomiK (Member # 6575) on :
I would go back to Ridgemont High with Rodney Dangerfield
Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :
the dangerfield mason question for me is going to take some thought, they are both really funny
Posted by Devolution (Member # 1731) on :
Devolution here,
Dangerfield was great, but Mason was on the WHOLE movie.
WE are DEVO
Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :
Dangerfield for sure in my book.
And I would go back to Ridgemont too. Seems like some really crazy stuff would happen there.
Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :
who do you find yourself quoting more mason or dangerfield
here is five dollars go get yourself a real haircut
we used to call her muffy, probably for different reasons
Posted by Dutch Gannon (Member # 10167) on :
I think I would prefer Shermer, for Weird Science alone.
Jackie Mason versus Dangerfeild.
"Do me a favor, you be the ball. If I wanted to be a peice of sports equipment, I'd be a ladies bicycle seat."
Versus
"Nice Hat! Bet you get a free bowl of soup with this hat. Oh but it looks good on you though"
Hey I got a subject for debate. Do you think that Burt Reynolds could have taken the Walter Mathau's part on Bad News Bears? I think he could have, and it almost seems like it was wrote for him from the start. I'm a big fan of Mathau, but I think Reynolds could have done it.
Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :
i could see reynolds doing a good job in the part
still cant decide on the dangerfield mason question
Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :
ridgemont has the better looking women
Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :
I actually find I quote Randy Quaid and Robert Stack the most from Caddyshack 2.
Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :
lots of good quotes from both movies
Posted by P_a_u_l (Member # 1022) on :
Shermer High for me, any day. It's not even a tough call, because whilst both schools have Lea Thompson, only Ridgemont has Sean Penn.
As for Caddyshack, I prefer the first movie, but to be fair, I don't really like, or quote, either movie enough for my opinion to matter.
Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :
ridgemont has phoebe cates, and many girls who have cultivated the pat bentar look
Posted by P_a_u_l (Member # 1022) on :
I can no doubt organise a transfer for Phoebe.... However, I'd still rather avoid Penn than anything else.
Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :
Whats' wrong with Spicolli?
Posted by Zigyma7ik (Member # 12351) on :
Mitt Romney is the scariest mother of them all.
Posted by P_a_u_l (Member # 1022) on :
Bernie, just put me down as someone who (despite the presence of Lea and Phoebe) have never seent he appeal of Fast Times, and almost certainly never will.
Posted by Johnny Roarke is reckless (Member # 9826) on :
P_A_U_L , i am shocked !
Posted by P_a_u_l (Member # 1022) on :
It's not for want of trying, or for not wanting to. It's that every time I watch it, it leaves me cold, and worse than that, Penn's performance just comes across as an abserdly gross caricature and (for me) thoroughly dislikeable.
Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :
i thought reinhold was one of the best characters
Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :
all right which is the better film
ferris bueller's day off
or
morgan stewart's coming home
Posted by Zigyma7ik (Member # 12351) on :
Ferris Bueller's. No contest.
Posted by P_a_u_l (Member # 1022) on :

Yup
Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :
Never seen the other one but I would most likely put my money on Ferris. That movie is awesome.
Posted by Johnny Roarke is reckless (Member # 9826) on :
Morgan Stewart's Coming Home is charming, but it's gonna be hard for any teen-movie to top Ferris Bueller.
Posted by aTomiK (Member # 6575) on :
Ferris is a classic but Morgan Stewart's Coming Home is definitely better than itīs reputation.

It's certainly the only way they could go with the concept...

Perhaps Kelly Preston could go full frontal nude in this one

I'm thinking we are maybe about a decade and a half too late for that to be a good thing....

i seen this on imdb
which is better tommy boy or billy madison
Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :
50/50
Posted by gordongecko (Member # 4685) on :
Tommy Boy by FAR!!!! I think that's one of the best comedies of all time. It's hilarious, heart warming, it's more quotable, I don't even think it's a debate. The chemistry that Chris and David had was seamless.
In my humble opinion, I think that a lot of Sandler movies have lost their funny over the years. I still like Happy Gilmour and maybe Wedding Singer a bit but the other movies don't work that well for me anymore. There are still some funny parts but overall not as much of a fan.
Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :
House keeping, you want me .... you off?
Posted by Zigyma7ik (Member # 12351) on :
Tommy Boy sucks the least.
Posted by Chris the CandyFanMan (Member # 3197) on :
It may be somewhat formulaic, but I wouldn't put Tommy Boy that far down. And it is the better picture both in terms of plot (certainly a more believeable one), joke quality (both "fat guy in a little coat" and "what happens with the other guy's brake pads" are among the funniest sequences cooked up in the 90s), and likeability (Farley always did have the inate ability to be liked even when the material got crude--but also give him credit for more or less keeping his films cleaner than some of his peers).

Yah but certainly he wasn't clean. If you catch my drift.

back to school or easy money
Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :
I will go with Back to School although I am a fan of both.
One of my favourite bits from Easy Money is when the guy in the park says something to the effect of, "I was just minding my own business and the kid came and jumped on my lap."
There are a number of disturbing themes in that movie but are used in a very humorous way.
I'm this....well call me when your this....
I am still waiting on the regular guy look to become a pinnacle of the fashion world. Hoping and praying.

I love both Marilu and Victoria. Marilu is probably a better actress but they are both very sensual ladies.
Posted by Crash (Member # 7484) on :
Nice looking gals. I'd probably go with Marilu Henner, only because she has that extremely rare and weird medical condition, hyperthymesia, where she can remember with perfect clarity every day of her life.

Jim Ignatowski
Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :
Okay, I watched this movie a while back over the winter but I don't remember the title. The lady was very tall, very blonde and wore pale faded jeans and a denim jacket. She was on a mission- I think someone killed her boyfriend/fiance. Anyway, that woman was totally kick-***. She would make a great addition as the elder leader in an all female Expendables flick. Does anyone know what movie and lady I am talking about? It is definitely a "B" movie.

What about L.A. Bounty (1989)?
She plays a bounty hunter that takes the job of hunting down an ex-boyfriend who had kidnapped a politician. The poster shows her wearing denim and leather...

Steve Vai by just a hair from a frog's butt cheeks.

shawshank redemption or the green mile
Posted by aTomiK (Member # 6575) on :
Shawshank by a mile. Green Mile is a decent movie though.
Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :
Shawshank, although there seem to be a number of similarities with Escape from Alcatraz.
