A lot of people seem pretty upset and vow to cancel their service, come August.
So ...soon, whatever dvd plan you have, that will be charged separately from the instant streaming service, which is currently included in your monthly plan...and double the price!

whoa momma!! they just raised their price a few months back.....interesting......are they sending out emails? I haven't heard a thing yet from them?

Ronnie.. that is very sad news .. I'm on the one Blu-ray at a time plan with instant streaming included. It has been a blast too.
So I'm not sure what I'm gonna do yet. Ouchy!

I got an email describing the new plan. I have the best plan that they currently offer, streaming and three DVDs per month, for $(US)19.99. The new plan they told me about is $(US)7.99 for streaming plus $(US)15.99 for three DVDS, for a total of $(US)23.98. The email also said that if I did nothing, I would continue on my old plan at the higher rate. While increasing my bill by 20% is outrageous, I do want to keep what I currently have, and that's convenient, but I believe that a "we charge you more unless you opt out" plan is illegal under the consumer protection laws of Pennsylvania. I'm sure someone will be complaining to the state Attorney General soon. Netflix will most likely have to change that to have folks affirmatively opt in to the new plans.

I've never joined Netflix...and I really don't plan on it anytime soon as times and financial strains are too tough right now.

When I started Netflix, Pyro, it was a lot different, something like $(US)7.95 per month for the three DVDs per month. The company is the biggest user of the U.S. Postal Service, but if the price of postage hasn't gone up, and more people are using the streaming service for less postage costs, why did they neeed to up the cost 20%? This looks like greed to me.

I'm gonna keep mine. Right now I have one DVD out at a time plus instant streaming. So I guess come Aug/Sept mine will go up to $15.98/month.

petty, i am with you on keeping my subscription. My husband was against the price hike but I am sticking with it. I do see opportunity knocking elsewhere...we might have other options soon, who knows.
I have the 1 dvd at a time subscription and will now pay for instant streaming too.
I never thought I'd join up with Netflix, as I believe I bashed it here a few years back haha. But it's the best way for me to see older movies I haven't seen, and I don't have to buy them on amazon.
Crash, I thought about the postage thing, I thought well, they do pay for the postage, I wonder if that had something to do with it, but you make a good point, more people stream the movies than renting the dvds.

I've decided to keep my netflix the same despite the price hike.. I've seen so many lost movies on it already.. I feel way head on the money side of it all currently.

I agree, i feel i got my moneys worth many times over with netflix. Its also still fairly inexpensive for what ya get, that is until they get really greedy and start way overcharging us.
