Leo Logan, I love the Dukes of Hazzard movie, and House of Wax too LOL. For me, the worst remake ever is that hideous Fog remake. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

Easy call here, the remake of And Sooon the Darkness. The 1970 original is a little-seen British film about two Brit nurses on a biking holiday in France. One goes missing, there's a serial killer on the loose, and the sense of dread as darkness approaches is breathtaking. The film has the best credentials you could ever want: star Pamela Franklin from Legend of Hell House; director Robert Fuest of the Dr. Phibes films; and screenplay by Brian Clemons, co-creator of The Avengers, and Terry Nation, who created the Daleks for Doctor Who. It is brilliant, the quietest, most unnerving thing that you will see. The 2010 remake with Amber Heard and Odette Yustman manages to toss out everything great about the original and settles for an idiot plot. It is making the rounds on U.S. cable and satellite. Ignore it at all cost, and do try to find the original on Anchor Bay DVD.

The original is classic and I highly recommend it. I read that the remake with Cage is considered as an unintentional comedy. I am not going to watch it.

Crash, I only read a bit of your post because I decided I want to see the original. I found it on Youtube. The whole movie in one:
texas chainsaw massacre, worst remake that i have seen in comparison to the orginal, in fact ever since that came out it seems all horror films try to capture the same look, it was either this or saw.

I tried watching Gremlins 2 but couldn't get through it. Willing to give it a second chance as I think I was just not in a good mood when I tried to watch it....but not hopeful of it comparing to one of my favorite movies....

At this moment in time, I'd have to choose the Inspector Gadget film, which merrily threw everything that made the series classic out the window for whatever reason, perhaps even solely to spite the fans for not coming in droves to some prior film, and if they thought throwing in a sort-of cameo by Don Adams at the end would help, well, suffice to say too little too late.

Godzilla (1998)
still ranks as one of the top worst remakes I ever had the misfortune of seeing...even with a decent cast..it was a disaster.

The new King Kong movie.
187 minutes of pure torture. I was forced to sit through it.

King Kong is OK, just overly long. There's a trend with movies these days to pad out the start of the movie to excess. Examples:
King Kong (above) : it's more than half way through the movie before you see the monkey.
Batman Begins : as I just said, Batman doesn't actually 'begin' until you're already 80 minutes into the movie.
It's all a bit unnecessary to me.
Anyhoo - worst remakes:
Flintstones The Avengers The Saint: (Val Kilmer ain't no Roger Moore. He's barely even a passable Ian Ogilvy) Planet Of The Apes: I can imagine the script yelling "Get your hands off me, you damn dirty director!"
Good remakes (IMHO)
The Time Machine: I liked this one, Guy Pearce is a favorite actor of mine, and Jeremy Irons as the leader of the Morlocks was good. The Italian Job: Yeah, I know. But I enjoyed it. Even with Mark Wahlberg in it. Because for every Mark Wahlberg, there was an Ed Norton.

Val Kilmer annoys me so much in The Saint. His attempt at an Australian accent is beyond terrible. The series however is classic.
Paul, another great remake with Guy Pearce is The Count of Monte Cristo. That version rocks.
