Made some of my favourite movies, like The Pink Panther, A Shot In The Dark, The Party, 10 and so on....!

While he sort of worked on auto-pilot toward the end of his career, when he was at the top of his game, he put some of the funniest stuff ever on screen--and all that you mention, Jay Lee, are some of those. RIP Blake Edwards, who will probably continue fighting with Peter Sellers in the afterlife.

You're right, he did eventually lose the touch, as most directors do at some point! But yeah, his movies with Sellers are classic comedy that will never die! And 10 is one of my favourite comedies of all time.
Those comedies had style and class to spare, even though they also went way out and wild! I don't think i've truly laughed out loud at a comedy made in the last ten years or so. But when Sellers is beating the **** out of Kato with his weak a$$ karate moves, or Dudley tumbles down the hill, all drunk and ****ed up on pain medication, whatever beverage i am consuming at that moment, will no doubt shoot out my nose!

"Cato, do not attack me tonight, Cato." (I'm laughing just typing that.) What's great about the Blake Edwards stuff is that it's old school, timeless comedy, perfectly choreographed, that never, ever grows old and doesn't rely on cheap laughs through profanity or topical references that date quickly. Classic example: One of my favorite Edwards/Sellers bits is from "Return of the Pink Panther"--the driving of the vehicles into the poor sod's swimming pool, the highlight being Sellers' putting one in the pool just as a crane is pulling out the last one. Just genius... :-)

I watched '10' just last week... and then this happens
I'll give a shout out for 'Victor Victoria' as the last great Blake Edwards movie. People should grab the DVD, it's got a nice commentary from Blake and his wife Julie (Andrews).
