This thread is dedicated to the dreams related to the 80's that we've had throughout the years. Obviously, I'm most interested in any dreams/nightmares any of us have had in relation to the 80's movies/characters, but actually it is for anything you want including dreams about your own childhood or 80's experiences.
Has anyone ever read any books regarding dream interpretation? I've really only done internet research, but I've always been fascinated by the alternate reality that the dream state can provide. In general, my dreams are not that scary and my memories of most of these dreams are usually vague. However, there are several over the years that seemed to have stuck with me long after I wake.
So I'll start with my strange 80's encounter from last night that inspired this thread:
So I usually go to bed hoping to run into Julie from "Valley Girl" or Christian from "RAD" in my dreams, but instead last night it was The Karate Kid for some odd reason. More specifically it was Ralph Macchio, but not the sweet charming version.. but instead the paranoid broken 80's version of Danielson I was not expecting.
Maybe it was Macchio's recent Funny or Die videos that caused it, but my dream was crazy. Somehow, we were pals and he was constantly on the run throughout my dream.. popping up the last time while I was on Spring Break in Florida. I told him how much I loved "The Karate Kid" and he suddenly grabbed me and said the movie was all a big lie. That after filming it, the real Johnny and Cobra Kais had marked him for death. He even had to retire from acting and enter a witness protection program. But that wasn't enough .. it was a wild dream .. there's more, but you get the idea.
Another..
I graduated college years ago, but I have this dream ocassionally where it is finals week and I'm late to the final exam for English (As you can tell by my grammar.. there is cause for concern). In one of these dreams, I'm frantic to find the right room.. then suddenly I see Joel from "Risky Business" in the hallway. I'm starting to realize it's just a dream, but can't help myself from going with it. I find the room and try to turn the door knob, but it is locked. Then Joel taps me on my shoulder and says. "Maybe if you'd spent less time chasing Chris Parker all over Chicago you might not be in this situation".. I respond by saying .. "I can't believe you are pulling out a bad babysitter joke at a time this serious.".. Then I wake up, I usually freak for a couple of minutes until I realize that I graduated college long ago.
Finally.. Had an awesome 80's horror movie type dream once where I was on vacation with characters (not the actors) from different movies. Then Bad stuff started happening! Run!
I've got plenty more.. so I know some of you have had 80's dreams at some point. Let's share and discuss..

Your dreams are hilarious, Valley!
I remember dreaming a long time ago that Freddy Kruegger was in my house and I was hiding from him in my parents basement, and I called my brother asking him to come help me and he told me he didn't have time (!). But the funniest dream I've ever had was that I was getting married, and the wedding was the exact scene from 16 Candles except the groom was a guy I know (but that I would NEVER marry) but he said all the same lines from the movie and I was acting just like Ginny did. Crazy!!

I can interpret your dream Valley: It's going to rain.
Never had any specific 80's-themed dreams, but things from and about the 80's constantly pop in and out, usually mixed in with whatever other nonsense is going on.
I absolutely love having the 'homework is due / exam' dreams, just for the thrill of waking and finding I'm not in school anymore, and I no longer have to do exams!
Isn't it odd that in dreams you can be in love / lust with people who, in real life, you'd never even consider dating. I always find that I have to talk to the person involved just to get the slightly odd feeling out of my gut that we are actually having a relationship!

Ugh! Valley, I so wish I could tell you I had some cool 80s dreams but when I was little, the only dreams I remember having were a bit scary. I think I have mentioned on here before my dreams of the singer Taco, who sang Puttin' On The Ritz. That video scared me so much that I had dreams of him coming after me! Not a pleasant thought considering your 80s related dreams but it's all I can think of at the moment.

Taco is a Ronnie Horror Picture Show just waiting to happen! That dude was freaky looking..
As much as everyone here loves the 80's, you'd think dreaming about it would be rather normal.

The premise of the new movie "Inception" is that people can take the control of their dreams and make them what they want them to be. But it may not just be a Hollywood fantasy.
According to the results of a new survey of 3,000 people, dream control or lucid dreaming may be a real thing. In fact, 65% of participants reported being aware they were dreaming within a dream, and 34% said they can sometimes control what happens in their dreams. Taking charge of the content of your dreams isn’t a skill everyone has, but it can be developed. The technique is particularly useful for people who suffer from recurring nightmares.
It is even suggested to give yourself a little pep talk of sorts before you go to sleep can help. Bascially, when you learn to be aware that you are "dreaming within a dream", you not only have the power to steer yourself away from Freddy Krueger and into the arms of Lori Loughlin, but you slowly train your mind to avoid nightmares all together.
Keep dreaming 80's!

Val, you're not gonna believe this, but I had this very bizarre dream, and you were in it!
Back in the day I saw The Beast Within and had bad dreams about it.
