To all my U.S.-born rewinders, I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Summer is (unoffically) here, and not a minute too early.
To all my (non)U.S.-born rewinders, I'm not certain if you celebrate an unofficial start to your summer(and if your south of the equator I guess it almost winter =-O), but I would still like to extend a happy summer '10 to you, too!

Bring it on....I love Summer....being outside....sunshine...and I think because it reminds me too of being a kid. Riding my bike all over the neighborhood with friends til the sun went down....going to the pool.....playing your ghetto blaster at the park. yay summer.

To each his/her own, but certainly not I! I love, love, love summer. I'm off from work for ten weeks, I can enjoy outdoor activities, I don't have to dig my car out of 3 foot snow drifts, and the sun shines in the sky for more than 9 hours a day. Ahhh...bring it on!

Here in the UK, we don't have an 'unofficial' start to summer.
Actually, we don't have an 'official' start to summer.
Heck, we barely even have a summer!

Paul, in Chicago we don't get much of one either. Last year, the temps were hardly ever higher than 75 degrees. Seems like this year it's going to be a very humid and rainy summer...I like Fall the best.

It's too bright, too light too late, heat makes me wanna top myself, greenflies, sore eyes, buses stink of sweat, flying ants, people look at you like you're a freak if ya wear a top with sleeves, (I don't do skin, get over it people), bees, can't sleep, hair sticks to neck, people smell, eating feels like a chore, brings out the annoying neighbours, midgies, feel sick, headaches. I'm forgetting some things
I just had to walk somewhere for 45 mins. It wasn't that hot out there but enough to now make me wanna curl up into a ball and die
We have far too much Summer
I hate it
I've just been racking my brain to come up with something positive about it and all I can think of is it reduces the gas bill.
Wake me up in Autumn

I too hate when it's too hot and sticky I grew up in MO with hotttttttt humid summers. But living in "rain country" like I do now any bit of sunshine makes my day!

Hay fever?

They're the freaks! They strip off at the first sign of sunlight! PUT YOUR CLOTHES ON IT'S MARCH!
They watch so much TV from the US they think it's California! Bunch of pasty-skinned posers!
That's one of the reasons this entire country has colds for ten months a year, because half the populace don't wear the right clothes for the weather and wreck their immune systems!

Bumblebees are our friends.

Oddly true.

Summer is so short here in Finland that we really enjoy it. Of course there´s always some people like There'll be no morning for us, which is cool (you certainly had some great points there) but they sure belong to the minority.
My summer vacation is only one month away (i only have 4 weeks, i want my 6 weeks vacation! )
So here´s to summer, have fun everyone!

i wish i could say i love summer as well. there are times i enjoy it, but it's just too hot here in phoenix. and summers last for about 5 months, and that's 5 months of dry hot hot hot air. i've lived here all my life and still not used to it. even as a kid, i was forced to stay in doors during summer vacation because my folks weren't home much. they didn't want me leaving the house so i stayed inside watching movies, mtv...etc. running around outside, swimming, and all the stuff sounded fun but i didn't get to do much of it. since i cannot stand the heat, i choose to stay indoors during the summertime. and i HATE to sweat. (i feel you helen). i do however, love the monsoon weather we get in the summertime.

I think it might have less to do with temperament and more to do with where you live. I sympathise with Noms, largely because (some) British people in summertime are the scum of the earth. If one could manually eliminate 20-30% of the populace with a flamethrower then summer would be a far more enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, despite a general consensus that this is the right thing to do, some rather outdated laws prevent us from doing so. As a result, summer in parts of Britain shall always be one part brief clammy heat (however you feel about it) and one part spawns of Satan given license to roam the earth with godless soul-rotting impunity.
