It was just pointed out to me that Thursday was the 10th anniversary of the release of The Matrix. Now that's a film that I'd love to watch again for the first time (see my previous thread).
The Matrix really was revolutionary - the special effects were out of this world... mindblowing really. Even Keanu Reeves acted well!
It's such a shame about the other two, although I didn't mind the second movie so bad.

I didn't realize it had been that long. I liked the original but the 2nd and 3rd were blah IMO. I believe the 2nd and 3rd were shot concurrently. Maybe the rush to shoot consecutive sequels didn't help. I'm thinking late R&B singer Aaliyah was supposed to have a role in one of the 2 sequels but due to her untimely death it never happened......

Along with 'Office Space', my favourite film of the 90s.
1999: Summer was on its way and all the hype was strictly 'Star Wars'
Nice hat...where's Kiera Knightley?
But then the Wachowski brother's only went ahead and made a masterpiece: No one could quite explain what they'd just seen, not surprising since Morpheus always said: "The Matrix cannot be explained, you have to see it for yourself". An entertaining, thought provoking futurist action drama which questioned the nature of reality & manipulative control of the human race.
Reloaded & Revolutions seemed like afterthoughts to me, combined they could've made for a decent sequel, apart they’re convoluted and meandering. Still watch them from time to time, though.
