I have Netflix and have been renting Brotherhood from Showtime. Wow, it's awesome. I'm totally addicted- I'll be receiving disc 3, season 1 today. I'll also be getting Body of Lies starring Russell Crowe and Leonardo Dicaprio too- I will let you all know how it is.
Some other shows I'm watching on tv now: Burn Notice Damages The Beast (starring The Swayze!) Survivor
Can't wait for these to come back: Saving Grace In Plain Sight Rescue Me- they filmed 22 episodes this time- it's back on April 7th, I am totally stoked.
And I can't wait for them to release Dexter- Season 3 so I can get it thru my Netflix!
Anyone watch any of these shows? Give me your opinions dudes!

Millennium (on Chiller) great show over ten years old but I still love it
Burn Notice Family Guy The Office Paladium (a HD channel that shows some great concerts) Twilight Zone (80s' version on Chiller) Twin Peaks (Chiller)
Pittsburgh you should rent The Changeling with Angelina Jolie. Eastwood directed it and the crooked cop in the movie is the same actor (Jeffrey Donovan) who plays Michael Westen in Burn Notice...........

I'm still watchin' Cold Case. It's my favorite! Pitt, I used to watch Rescue Me back when Dean Winters was on it but haven't since then. Someone at school today was talking about Burn Notice. Is it good?

Oh, yeah, I watch Lost too, but I recorded last night's ep. so I didn't watch it yet. I am still hooked on Cold Case too, and Without a Trace. New Amazing Race- what do you guys think of the Hillbilly Couple? I think they make for some funny tv! And I always catch some old Family Guy eps here and there.
Posted by Sammy Reign In Blood Hain (Member # 3150) on :
I don't like how The Amazing Race is playing up the deaf kid as much as they are. They devoted way too much interview time with him and his mom.
That challenge with the wheels of cheese was hilarious. The only challenges that could compete with that one involve animals.

I am the opposite when it comes to those two shows. I liked Survivorman better, because he really did different things. Plus he manned his own cameras and equipment, while Bear Grylls has camera people, and every show seemed the same to me. And the Survivorman dude also did the editing and narrating for the show. His show is done now- I think he probably got hurt too many times. He is getting up there- I think he's either 44 or 45, and I think he probably doesn't want to beat up his body so much anymore.

At the moment i am watching The West Wing,i really didn't pay much attention to this when it was on telly but i recentley got the entire boxset for Ģ50 which was a good deal. I am just starting season 3 today and have to say what a great show this is, the acting and script along with the camera work are second to none. To start with i thought it might get a bit heavy going but most episodes have some good humour in them as well.

I'm also making my way through Star Trek DS9 on DV, as well as American Gothic. I'm currently downloading Survivor Samoa, just finished watching d/l eps of ANTM Cycle 13, I'm also really loving Drop Dead Diva.

Not a classic final, but then again, they very rarely are.
As you pointed out, Robben was the main attacking threat, but the Inter defence marshalled him very well.

I had watched a few eps here and there, but never kept up on it cuz it was on the same time as something else I watched, which I can't remember, lol. It's so good! I am also going to start watching the Wire. I heard good things about that one. Anyone ever watch Oz? I was thinking about watching that too. Also I am watching Burn Notice Season 4 and Royal Pains Season 2, which started last night. American Pickers will return next week, which I loved watching along with Pawn Stars. I liked Memphis Beat- I've seen 2 episodes. I watch them as they come up on Ondemand. I guess I have some catching up to do. I think Leverage sucks this year. Or maybe it's just me- it's the same old same old- phony accents, the long haired guy kicking butt, the blonde chick swooning over the smart computer guy. I am going to watch that new show that starts on AMC on Sunday instead- Rubicon. They showed the first episode already. Hope it's as good as the first one. I was wanting to see Huge- I just forgot about it. I can always try Ondemand. When I saw the teasers for Rizzolli and Isles, all I could think of was "Cagney and Lacey". My hubby said the same thing, lol.
Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :
Rizzoli and Isles is pretty good. I've read all Tess Gerittsen's books so that may be why I like it lol. I read that TNT had already ordered eps of it for next year, along with The Closer and Leverage.

I think I'll have to try the American version to compare. Survivor Nicuaguara is on so I'll be downloading those as they don't get shown over here anymore.
The one show I never miss still after all these years is .... Neighbours! It's just had it's 25th birthday. Next year it's moving to a new digital channel, so is changing from G rated to PG, so slightly more racy stories. It's been awesome this year - Ramsey St had it's first official coming out, an attempted murder and a brillian slow burn story that has gone on all year - Stephanie Scully had an affair with her best friend (Libby)'s estranged husband and got herself pregnant, so she and other best friend Jarrod pretended to become a couple and got married just to protect Libby from finding out the truth. But as it always does, the truth came out and it was amazing!!!!

I really love Pawn Stars as well...I think the whole clan is pretty funny...maybe they should create a real sitcom for them. I wonder if the transactions not recorded on video are like typical pawn shops, as in, "I'll give you $10...for you $200 item". My vision of pawn shops is not a pleasant one....typically seem like the owners are "bottom feeders" shamlessly ripping of people who are experiencing hard times...addicts seeling their possessions for their next fix, theifs selling stolen items, etc.

Thereīs lots of nudity and curse words are rule not the exception, but at the same time itīs very funny, clever and it makes you think. And if you are Duchovny fan, let me just tell you that agent Mulder was not his greatest role.

You're right about that, aTomiK. This was his best role ever:
I'm about half way through Season 2 of Twin Peaks. It's a damn shame that it was so short. A truly brilliant show.

Oh yeah, what a lovely pic Twin Peaks is a classic.
Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :
Okay, I'll give Californication a try. Maybe it was the writing on Entourage that made me not like it. All I heard was praise for that show and I watched quite a few episodes while I was sick, trying to "get it". Curse words don't bother me, lol. I am known for having truck driver mouth. If you think the writing is good, I want to see what it's all about. Thanks guys for the advice.

bernie, i attempted to watch this almost a year ago and i couldn't finish it. it was too disturbing.. the images of the kids....so horrible what happened. i have 2 young kids, so that made it hard for me to watch.
after viewing the documentary, what do you think? do you believe they are innocent?
Posted by Veronica Sawyer (Member # 2221) on :
I read a book about the west memphis 3 and I absolutely believe those men are innocent. There is no evidence linking them to the crime at all...I honestly believe that one of the stepfathers of the little boys did it.

They're as guilty as hell!
Is that the one where they found bite marks on one of the kids and then the stepfather appeared without any teeth?
Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :
I didn't really like Californication. I watched the first three episodes, then gave it up. The cursing does not bother me- I have truck driver mouth myself. It was all of the nudity. I really don't want to see a naked chick every five minutes. This is definitely a show for the guys. I thought most of the plot was weak too. There were a few funny moments, like when he puked on that guy's painting, but I didn't like it enough to keep up with it. I love Dexter- I am waiting to see when Season 5 comes out on dvd. I watched the first season on CBS when the writers strike was on. Then we watched Season 2,3,and 4 through Netflix. I will be watching Big Love Season 4, Nurse Jackie Season2 and Weeds Season 6 soon as they are being released within the next few weeks.

It's kinda weird watching a cop show where they don't rely on cell phones and computers, just good detective work. I kinda wish we'd go back to those times, but it's never going to happen. I just get so tired of seeing people glued to their cell phones.

I know that a lot of people like the CSI or Law and Order stables, but they are hardly great television, good perhaps in a formulaic, workmanlike way sometimes, but definitely not shows in the pantheon of greatest shows of all time. Currently there are three shows that I'm really watching loads of:
Wheeler Dealers - a combination of a wide-boy used car salesman and a genius mechanic buy a clapped out old banger, restore it, then sell it on for a profit. Last night they did a Delorean, which (including import duty, UK registration, restoration work and the cost of the trip to California to find it) they sold on and made close on 50% profit (base car was Ģ9.5k, costs were Ģ5K, sale price Ģ20.5k)
Star Trek: Voyager - I don't know why so many Trek fans dislike this show, because it's really good, and in Robert Picardo as the EMH they have probably the best character actor to grace any Star Trek show - Patrick Stewart is a better classical actor, but doesn't have the scope or range that Picardo enjoys.
Dirk Gently - the BBC have made a series based on the Douglas Adams books, and although there's a little too much repetition about the 'fundamental interconnectedness of all things', the plots, performances and scripts are funny and thought provoking.

Forbrydelsen (aka The Killing, 2007)
The series just started here on Dutch television this week, but luckily there's an episode each day. So i don't have to wait months to find out who did it.
These first couple of episodes made me remember my all-time favorite tv series Twin Peaks. But i'm guessing there's not going to be a killer Bob or a black lodge in this one.

I heard about that American remake series. Not sure if i will ever watch it though... although it would be interesting to compare the two. Have you seen the American version, by any chance ?
When it comes to the original series i'm watching now, i must say there are more than a few similarities between this and Twin Peaks. Especially the main story's set-up with the dead girl being the star of the show despite her absence, but also the way she died, a secret life of sex and drugs among her classmates, some clues about her death (there's even a necklace that was found, just as in Twin Peaks), the tragic effect her death has on her parents, and every character on the show seems to have a hidden agenda of some sort. The main difference however is the absence of Twin Peaks' surrealism which is replaced here by grim reality.
The original series (including the following season 2 series) have been released on dvd here.
Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :
I watched the American remake. It was good, but I guess not fast-paced enough for most U.S. viewers, as it has not been renewed for a third season. I think the producers made a huge mistake announcing that they would solve the murder of the young girl within the first few episodes of season two, then have Linden and Holder (the detectives) move on to a new case. That never happened. They dragged out the murder of the girl, Rosie Larsen, for two seasons.

He does resemble an older version of Lorenzo Lamas in his Renegade tv-series days.
And that's really an impressive mullet too !

Okay, let's forget about the Dog and get back to some quality tv.
Still watching Forbrydelsen (The Killing) here, and i was shocked ! Last night, one of the main characters got killed. I really didn't see that coming. Talking about unexpected plot twists and turns, ha !
Only two more episodes to go, and still no clue how this is going to end. One thing is for sure though : It won't be a happy ending for most of the characters in this great tv series. I just know that much !

Does anyone else watch Grimm? It is the only show on NBC that I watch. I started watching it last fall when it premiered. We were at our camp where we don't have cable, just the little digital box to pick up a few stations. I don't remember what came on before it, but I told my husband not to change the channel because I definitely wanted to check out Grimm. I really liked it right off. I couldn't believe they started Season 2 so soon. I am watching Episode 3 of Season 2 right now. There is so much garbage on network tv, I was surprised to find something I liked on NBC.

Storage Wars (American reality series)
When rent is not paid on a storage locker, the contents are sold by an auctioneer as a single lot of items. The show follows professional buyers who need to outbid one another to get the contents when they're interested. The goal is to turn a profit on the merchandise.
Lately, there's also a spin-off of the original series on tv here, called Storage Wars Texas, which follows a different group of professional buyers.

Mr Roarke, can I steer you towards what I reckon is a superior version of this concept: Auction Hunters. Features two guys (Allen Haft and Ton Jones) who buy up the units, then sell the contents on - they just seem to have around 300% more fun doing so than anyone I've ever seen on Storage Wars...
Posted by Johnny Roarke is reckless (Member # 9826) on :
I don't think Auction Hunters is on tv here in Holland. Lately there have been several similar-themed programmes, including Barter Kings, American Pickers, and several pawn-shop shows. It's nothing i'd stay home for, but Storage Wars is on tv here during the weekends around dinner-time. It's fun to watch when you have nothing else to do, i guess. I'll keep an eye out for that Auction Hunters though. I wouldn't be too surprised if it shows up on tv here at some point. These kind of programmes seem to be popular here at the moment.

Good one Paul and Johnny. Love both of those. Barry Weiss is great. Did u see the storage wars with Stewart Copeland. A nice 80s feel in that one. I also like shipping wars. Anyone else?

Yeah, Hollywood Barry is always good for a laugh. Never taking things too seriously.
Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :
Auction Hunters is a completely fabricated show. The producers have a contract with an antiques dealer, who supplies them with the "finds" for the storage lockers. They are then set into said lockers and a fake auction is filmed. The other "bidders" are actually hired extras. Alan Haff is an actor and antiques dealer. Ton works with exotic animals, but also acts sporadically, mostly as biker types of dudes. I don't buy any of these storage locker auction tv shows. They are all Hollywood produced. In Pennsylvania, if you are the owner of a storage facility, a notice must be sent out to the renter first, for non-payment. If it is not cleaned out within a certain period of time (I believe it is one month), the storage owner will go through the contents, keeping what they think is worth any money, then have the rest of the junk auctioned off. Also, my husband went to one many years ago out of curiosity, well before all of these auction shows aired. He said the auctioneer took each individual item out of the lockers and the people bid on each item, not an entire storage locker. Anything that was junk was just thrown into a dumpster. I'm not sure if that was just the auctioneer who did it that way, or if anyone still does that in PA.

Anyhoo, we finished watching American Horror Story season 2 almost two weeks ago. I thought season 1 was better, but I think I am in the minority. So many others have said they thought season 2 was better. There are rumors that season 3 will take place in New Orleans. We are also watching The Following, about a serial killer, starring Kevin Bacon as an FBI agent. It has been excellent so far, and on the plus side, they are airing 14 episodes in a row, no repeats and no skipping a week.

Well, i never expected it to be 100% real. Personally, i think every so-called 'reality show' is staged, at least up to a certain degree. Doesn't mean they can't be entertaining though.

Ah yes, i watched the whole series last year when it aired on Dutch television.. very moody indeed. I didn't really like Holly Hunter's character though, and the whole female commune storyline didn't seem that important in the end. Maybe it could have been better if they tightened it up a bit. Nonetheless, the acting was top-notch, especially by Peter Mullan (who played Tui's father).
He was very unpredictable and menacing throughout. Strong lead performance by Elisabeth Moss as the troubled female cop with some peculiarities of her own. The girl who played Tui impressed too in a difficult, multi-layered role.
Great scenery and dark atmosphere not unlike Winter's Bone which i happened to watch last week.

Last night I went over to see the in laws and my father in law normally puts on random episodes from 70s,80s us series such as - the equalizer, dukes of hazard, night rider,a - team, highway to heaven, sledge hammer etc. as well as episodes from old UK series such as black beauty, catweazle and so on.
Anyhow last night we watched an episode from the incredible hulk (1977) called - death in the family which contained this really funny fight scene between the hulk (Lou ferringo) and a bear in which the incredible hulk uses all his strength to pick the bear (or should that be large soft toy) up and throw him miles through the air.
The incredible hulk was a fun series which I remember fondly as a child watching it on a Saturday afternoon during the late 70s early 80s on UK channel BBC one.
Watching it again last night for the first time in years made me think to how freaky I used find the opening credits as a kid

But I think it's still good so far. I finished The Red Road a few weeks ago. It's a shame it didn't get a season 3 to tie up loose ends. I also started the comedy The Ranch, just watched the first episode last night. It stars Ashton Kutcher as a washed up football player who returns to work on his Father's ranch (Sam Elliot). It also stars Debra Winger as the Mother and Danny Masterson as his brother. My friend has watched a few more episodes and said it is really funny. Some other tv shows we are watching include Better Call Saul, Bates Motel, Outsiders, The Americans, Vikings, Blue Bloods, The Walking Dead (which I am getting bored with). It reminded me of a Hollywood version of a fantastic Steve Allen public television show that ran in the late 70s to early 80s, Meeting of the Minds. Allen moderated a dinner party of actors playing historical figures such as Catherine the Great, Karl Marx, Marquis DeSade, and Leonardo DaVinci. Steve Allen was a genius, Jon Favreau, not so much. Just finished watching True Detective season 3. The storyline of a kid brother and sister who went missing in 1980 is more complex by the way the story is told rather than the events that actually occurred.
There are three seperate timelines : The actual case in 1980, the re-opening of the case in 1990, and a film-crew making a documetary about the still unsolved case in 2015.
Basically it's all about the characters, the two leads being played by Academy award winner Mahershala Ali (from Moonlight and Green Book) and Stephen Dorff (for whom this is arguably the most impressive role of his career). The older Stephen Dorff in the 2015 segments of the story is starting to look (and sound) more and more like Jack Nicholson, i noticed. Check this pic :
After a slightly disappointing second season, the show is back up to its initial high standards. Season three comes highly recommended !
