Is there stuff you won't eat or touch? For me it's:
Brussle Sprouts Squash Water Chestnuts Potato salad (mayonaise and potato is just wrong IMO) Lentl soup

The only thing that I won't eat, or even taste, would be those disgusting foods that Andrew Zimmern tries on the Travel channel. I am open to trying anything once. I thought that I would not like venison, but two years ago had some great marinated venison steaks. I guess you just have to know how to cook it cuz it is so lean. I've had bison too- the steaks were really tasty and lean.

I have never tasted a brussel sprout. I have eaten LIVER once. Never again. I dont try things like tongue, brain, anything like that. Haggis. Nope. The "weirdest" things i've tryed are alligator and deer.
Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :
I use to hate brussel sprouts, now I really like them.
I love cooked cabbage too. Has anyone ever eaten Huluski? It's cooked cabbage/onion and butter and Huluski noodles. You can add a little bit of ham to it too. Yum.
I actually eat much more stuff than I use to.
I hate cooked/canned spinach- but I love loose leaf spinach.
I hate raw tomatoes.
I'd never eat deer meat...even if someone paid me.
Riptide-I love potato salad and water chestnuts (they barely have any flavor)
I hate mushrooms-they are just icky and slimy.
My favorite vegetables are: broccoli, cauliflower, sugar snap peas, green beans, and asparagus.
I don't like any kind of seafood. I have never tried Salmon. I know people that love sardines and pickled herring-I think I'd throw up if I had to eat either of those things.
I eat very little meat.
I don't know if you can call this a food...but I hate coffee. I love the smell of it, but can't stand the taste of it.
I don't like olives of any kind.
It's not a food-but I hate the taste and smell of any kind of beer.
I don't like fried eggs.
There are certain fruits I have never tried and I want to...but I never can find them anywhere...
I never tried a pomagrante or a passion fruit.
I hate canned corn.
I like my vegetables fresh or frozen-not in a can.
I hate Hamburger Helper- and so does my husband...I don't like pre packaged food at all. The only thing I eat from a box- is Kraft spaghetti and Kraft Mac and Cheese.
I hate those Ramen Noodles-they are so gross...I don't know how people can eat them by the bucket loads.
I hate most fast food.

I hate potatoes with the exception of potato chips, french fries and hash browns
I hate olives
I hate liver
I hate brussels sprouts
I hate most types of legumes
I love mushrooms and onions two tastes I have acquired in my adult years
I love venison and seafood of all types
I love beer, coffee and eggs

I hate hate hate peas in a can, liver, sardines, I don't like cooked broccoli...but like it raw, don't like eggs, but like egg salad sandwhiches, hate olives as well...basically, don't like too many things that are green and mushy.

Wow some startling revelations here. Isis, surprised you don't like seafood, nothing better than rice and a salmon steak. Smoked salmon, cream cheese and bagels go great together too.
Stuff like Ramen/Hamburger Helper is kind of like starving student food. I used to eat Ramen and Mr. Noodles but stopped after someone told me about MSG in it.
Other stuff I don't like:
Egg salad and sandwiches Tuna(smells and probably tasted the same as cat food)Noth that I know what cat food tastes like! Tapioca pudding Raisin Bread Fruit Cake Canned Spaghetti Ketchup and Relish Liver and Onionsa(tasted rancid the only time I tried it) Macaroni and Cheese Pogos

i hate brussels sprouts, water chestnuts, sauerkraut, liver, limburger cheese, beets and pork of any kind and fruit cake and prunes!! dee
Posted by buffalo-girl (Member # 7498) on :

Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :
Brussel sprouts (ugh!!) Liver...or any kind of chicken guts, like hearts or ****ards, even though I do buy them for my dogs
I've never eaten venison...I don't know if I could or not.
Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :
I hate:
lentils cauliflower asparagus liver
I love:
coffee eggs sausage steak (beef, deer, elk :my dad's a hunter so he really got me into the venison and elk steaks) mushrooms (on pizza only) beer

Riptide-I love most those things you hate. Especially Tapioca pudding. I make it all the time-I love mixing strawberry preserves in with it. I love really good rice pudding with raisins and some cinnamon sugar on it. Yum-that's like one of my favorite things.
I love Raisin Bread. I make a Raisin Strata for breakfast- it's like a Raisin Bread pudding-it has maple syrup in it-it's good.
Riptide-Macaroni and Cheese is like my all favorite thing-I could eat it every day. The only frozen food I like is Stouffer's Mac and Cheese.
I am making egg salad for my party this coming weekend.
I love prunes too-they make orange flavored ones-those are good (just don't eat too many).
I love cauliflower- raw or cooked. It's my favorite raw vegetable for dipping. I can just cut up cauliflower for lunch and dip it in Marzetti's ranch dip.
I really like Litehouse Jalapeno Ranch salad dressing.
I like tuna sandwiches too.
I use to LOVE Chef Boyardee Spaghetti and Meatballs-but I never eat that. I do still eat Beefaroni every once and awhile.
I never tried Salmon...so I don't really know if I would like it.
I kind of like stuff with a smokey flavor (allthough I think it isn't a good thing to eat).
I made potatoes for some guests a few weeks ago-and I used smoked gouda cheese-it was really good.
I love scrambled eggs- just not fried eggs.
Today I made Oreida Hashbrowns that had red and green peppers and onions in them- for part of breakfast for some guests- they were good, and they were red and green for Christmas.
You know some years ago...on here...me and Bionic Bigfoot found a Moon Pie website and I ordered he and I some moon pies- because I remember him talking about them, and I thought I liked them, and they had banana moon pies...I thought those would be awesome-but they tasted like cardboard. It was a sad disappointment.
I like Ketchup on French Fries- but usually I put vinegar or sour cream on french fries.
I hardly eat hamburgers...but if I do...I like to make them like this place from my hometown...they took the hamburger and chopped it up and cooked it on a grill-like making sloppy joes- and then they put the hamburger in a hot dog buns...I always got mustard and onions on mine...they would wrap them in waxed paper-and they steamed them- and they were really soft- that's the way I liked them.
I remember I use to love steak and onion sandwiches when I was a teenager-I haven't had one of those in years.
My friend is bringing me a fruit cake recipe in the morning....I think it has a ton of rum in it ...I never made one...my mom wants to try it.
Does anyone like Divinity and Peanut Brittle?

I forgot to add calamari. I love it and all seafood except for clams, mussels, and oysters.....
Posted by NiceGuy Sammy Hain (Member # 3150) on :
calamari yummy
Posted by Riptide (Member # 457) on :
Calamari, hell yeah. I really love Greek cooking.
Reading Isis's post, maybe I am a fussy eater. But i have come along way the past 5 years. I like food from different cultures more than I ever did.
Posted by 80'sRocked (Member # 6979) on :
I will not touch 95% of seafood.
I put mustard on almost everything....pork, beef, chicken, turkey, fish, all styles of potatoes. I'm weird like that.

There is a Chinese/Vietnamese restuarant in Melbourne that we go to sometimes, it serves a drink called "3 colour drink". It consists of coconut milk, green jelly and kidney beans. I have to admit it's suprisingly nice!

Will not eat:
Brussel Sprouts. When I was six, my mother told me I would grow into them (like they were a pair of my elder brother's old shoes - that might be where the taste comes from)
Shellfish - not down to any particular reason other than allergies. That and the fact that raw, they look like Snails Of The Sea....
"Ethnic" food - if you've got to serve it on a fancy plate, with some luminous sauce, and call it by a foreign name, then I reserve the right to NOT eat any part of any animal whose origin I can't immediatly verify.
Will eat:
Liver - but only if I cook it myself, or I see it cooked right before consuming. It shouldn't bake to the consistency of shoe leather before adding the onions.....
Bacon - the one food that guarantees that I will never be a vegetarian.

Of course, you know not to eat the perfectly round calamari, don't you.....
Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :
I like oysters, but, and I know this is gonna sound weird, I cannot look at the inside of the oyster when I'm eating it. It also has to be fried good and brown.

I always thought that if someone could eat a squid they'd eat just about anything.
Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :
wow. i eat just about everything that you all have mentioned. except liver.. never tried it. but i would. but my least favorite kind of food is mexican..and i am mexican/american hehe.
i love seafood!...and love sushi.
alligator tastes like chicken to me..
i eat all veggies and fruits as well.
i didn't like a lot of foods until i was a bit older though.
i don't care for mustard too much, the taste is too strong and tart for me.
Posted by mamamiasweetpeaches (Member # 1715) on :
I cant stand the smell of Chef Boyardee spaghetti-in-a-can. It smells like puke to me! My husband loves it and my daughter does too. i really have to be STARVING to wat that canned pasta ****.
Posted by Riptide (Member # 457) on :
Other stuff I don't like is parmagean cheese(smells like stinky feet!)
Also was never a huge jam/marmalade fan and putting stuff on toast other than butter. Never could get around those banana and peanut butter sandwiches either.

I can't my head around liver, it's just foul tasting. I had Buffalo once, as expected it was very tough. I liked swordfish. Never had mutton.
Posted by J2ME (Member # 5728) on :
Did you have Lamb or Pigs Liver?
Pigs Liver is much nicer.
I'll have to find somewhere in London where they serve Buffalo..

That's odd because bison is supposed to be much more leaner than regular ground beef. Bison is tasty.
Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :
Yes the bison I had was tasty. Maybe it needed some marinade because it's so lean.
Just fora llyou legume haters, I am going to cook up a pot of Lentil soup with brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and chicken livers in it,ha,ha! I have only had liver a few times, it is okay. In fact, I have some in the freezer and am considering making it tomorrow. It's from the cow I bought. I did not keep the weird stuff though, like the tongue. There is a name for all of those weird things like the organs and tongue, but I can't think of it right now.

I can't stand:
- Bologne - Spam - Any kind of fake cheese (i.e. Velveeta) - Pork & beans - Margarine - Hidden Valley Ranch dressing - Sardines - Just about anything pickled, including pickles - Raw onions (okay cooked, though) - Garlic powder
Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :
I like all that stuff except..SPAM and Sardines
I love pickled stuff...they make this stuff called "Chow", and it all kinds of mixed vegetables-pickled-I love it.

No not at all... kangaroos are a bit of a pest here so we dont' have a problem eating them.
It's not one of my favorite meats, I'd much rather eat a cow or a sheep, but when we go out for a meal it's nice to try something a little patriotic!
Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :
I thought of something that I hate. I don't like any of those gross soft cheeses like Brie. It must be a French thing. And I don't like fresh mozzerella either. I don't like biting into mushy cheese. Melted cheese is another thing though- I like grilled cheese, or pretty much anything with melted American or Cheddar is good.
Posted by kevdugp73 (Member # 5978) on :
Rip...re eggs...we're exact opposites...I like egg salad sandwhiches, but don't like eggs cooked any other ways...except rum and egg nogg if that counts
I would poke my eye out before I'd eat cheeze whiz, can peas, turnip, sushi, sardines, olives, liver, lima beans....
I'm whimpy when it comes to trying new things...my wife hates it when we go to a nice restaurant, and I order......a hamburger!
Posted by ISIS (Member # 1780) on :
I hate canned peas too.
I have never tried sushi. When I watch them scarfing it down in Valley Girl- I just see Fred freaking out and then I think...ick. But, I never thought it looked awful.
"It's sushi, don't ya know."
Posted by Stitch Groover (Member # 2895) on :
Too much sushi is no good for you - just as Jeremy Piven!
Posted by Riptide (Member # 457) on :
Isis, never tried Sushi? Wow. I think in the past I've converted a lot of doubters. If a former meta and potatoes man can eat and like it then anyone can. I think people expect to eat something like raw fish when there are a lot more ingredients involved. And I agree the VG/Sushi episode looked very unappetizing.
Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :
Why does Valley Girl have to be interjected into every thread. Sushi, eh, it's okay. But I don't go out of my way to go eat it. I've had it a few times. If you've never tried it, have a California roll. Most people seem to like that.

Cool! Looking forward to it, I'm a little ashamed to admit it but I've never seen Less than Zero (or Valley Girl for that matter!)
Posted by Riptide (Member # 457) on :
Neither title? Wow. I haven't watched Less than Zero in a while but there was a time in the 90's when I couldn't watch it because with his problems it was art imitating life. Could you imagine how we would view that film now if he didn't survive? But he seems to be back on track with sobriety and the Iron Man franchise so that worked out great.
