would be weird seeing them without jim martin, but apparently that bridge has been burned.
the first album they released sans martin is supposed to be really good.
i saw them in '89 at this little club during the real thing tour. it was one of the best shows i ever saw.

We saw them summer '97 as they were the headliners at a local radio station concert. All of them dressed in tuxedos in 90 degree heat lol helluva show........

I saw them in a club in NYC around the time Songs To Make Love To came out.-cant even remember which club it was- but it was standing only, no seats, and since I got kicked in the face during opening act HELMET I spent the rest of the show all the way in the back. My friend I came with stayed all the way up front (good for him).
Man, I had a mad crush on Mike Patton back then. I still DO, I guess. Hahaha.
I could be persuaded to go see them again.
Doesn't Jim Martin grow 75 lb pumpkins now? I could have sworn I saw him on a VH1 WHERE ARE THEY NOW special?

.....I just want to add about two years ago a friend and I were talking about bands we had seen play live and when I said "FAITH NO MORE" she cracked "What'd they sing after Epic?" Come ON! They had other songs!!!! What about From Out Of Nowhere? Falling To Pieces? We Care A Lot? (a personal favorite) - Surprise Your Dead? What about the ANGEL DUST album? To this day I still listen to Kindergarten and Be Aggressive! I didnt care for the KING FOR A DAY album....but I liked some of that really far out there MR BUNGLE STUFF (Squeeze Me Macaroni, anyone? To this day I cant order chicken mcnuggets without thinking of that song : "Ronald McDonald loves to be fondled!" ) Mike Patton sorta went to The Frank Zappa School Of "Yes I WENT There!"

Oooops....I forgot to mention the songs from SONGS TO MAKE LOVE TO, which had their very cool version of Easy by LIONEL RICHIE. they also did a version of THE DEAD KENNEDYS song Lets Lynch The Landlord and a version of Theme from MIDNIGHT COWBOY (which sorta puzzled me cuz theres no lyrics for Mike to sing on that one...but no matter...I love the sadness of that song anyway). My FAVORITE song of theirs was Das Schutzenfest (hope I spelled it right), which was sung all in German. It was fabulous! Was that a cover? Who originally sang it?

I liked their pre and post Epic stuff. Patton is really out there at times especially if you listen to some of his band "Fantomas" stuff with Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo. He also fronts a band called "Tomahawk" which is really, really out there but nonetheless still good stuff. I never could get into his band "Peeping Tom." Too much rap infusion IMO. Fantomas also did covers for the Twin Peaks, Godfather, Rosemary's Baby, and Experiment in Terror theme music.....

I just thought of another song Mike Patton did that was good: he did a cover of the BEE GEES /ROBIN GIBB song I Started A Joke! Cant remember if he did that with FAITH NO MORE or one of his other bands though.

i believe king for a day was the first album without jim martin. i haven't listened to it but i heard it was good.
angel dust is as good as the real thing.
helmet were great, especially early on, but they nosedived quickly. i think the last album of theirs i listened to was betty, which was ok but not great.
never listened to fantomas but i know people who like them. i think the bass player from melvins is also in that band.
also, melvins are the heaviest band ever. you should listen to that band.

Mike Patton is a workaholic I'll give him that. I wouldn't mind seeinf FNM again. The only time I did was when they opened for the infamous riot concert in Montreal with Metallica and GnR. It was lame, my sister and I were checking FNM out, and all these metal dudes weren't even paying attention. Patton's bands always are on the cutting edge and ahead of their time. Korn were really influenced by those Mr. Bungle albums.

seriously though, i never knew this. but i checked their wiki page and sure enough there is a small blurb about her playing bass in the band for a while.

Didn't Cobain have a pretty big friendship with the Melvins? I know he and Michael Stipe were gonna record something together. From the interviews I saw, Stipe was gonna do it more less in hopes of getting Cobain off the downward spiral of drugs......

Kurt Cobain produced the Melvin's Houdini. The Melvins were hugely influential on Cobain, as Buzz Osbourne made him punk compilation tapes and I think he even roadied for the Melvins.

motleyrulz are you living in some kind of dream world or something lets look at what is likely to happen ozzfest 2009 so thair for no fath no more reunion is everybody forgetting the ozzy osbournes drum player is mike borden the orignal drum player for faith no more as much as i wood like to see them back toghter again i dont think thay do put on a killer show i was luckey enough to see them on the 1992 angel dust tour

Im a HUGE BEE GEES fan and dare I say I prefer Mike's Patton's I Started A Joke to theirs? He does a delibeartly heart-broken gush of emotion during it that really works! I think I want them to play his version at my funeral!

What album or compilation is that Beegees cover from? Was Courntey Love in an early incarnation of Faith No More? Somebody told me that and I said "what"? What was your first reaction when you first heard Epic?

Thanks for the links Motley. I liked the FNM version, but I still like the Bee Gees better. I think it is Robin Gibb's voice that does it for me. I agree with mamamia though, Patton really gets into it!
