In another thread I thought of the movie "Greencard" from 1990-with Andie MacDowell.

I kind of like the movie...cause I like the story line....But I hated the chemistry between
Gérard Depardieu and Andie MacDowell. He completely turned me off.....I thought he was too clumsy and oafy in that movie to be with her...infact when they kissed in that movie-I think I covered my eyes. I just did not like the pairing of those 2 at all.

Has there ever been a movie where you hated the chemistry between the couple?

I also hated it between Sam Jones and Deborah Foreman in My Chauffer.

Matt Dillon and Denise Richards in "Wild Things." Denise Richards and Neve Campbell's chemistry was waaaaay better.........

Gérard Depardieu is oafy in all his movies.

One that comes to mind for me is Entrapment. I love this movie, but c'mon....Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta Jones? He's old enough to be her grandfather.

Madonna and Sean Penn.....need I say "Shanghai Surprise"?

I never bought the chemistry between Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn in "African Queen" or the chemistry between John Wayne and Angie D!ckinson in "Rio Bravo"

I saw that movie years ago, and liked it.

As for Depardieu's "oafy" appearance...that was intentional. The pairing between McDowell and him was meant to be awkward because of the storyline: they are supposed to pretend to become a couple for the residency and immigration purposes, not out of pure romance!

One that immediately comes to mind: "Gigli" with Ben Affleck and J-Lo.

Another one: "Shanghai Suprise", the "Gigli" of the 80's! [Smile]

Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis Top Gun.
Michael Douglas and Gwyneth Paltrow in A Perfect Murder (I hate that Hollywood always casts 25 year old women opposite 50+ year old men - how disgusting).

And the worst I've ever seen:

Dustin Hoffman and Sharon Stone in Sphere. Hoffman had more chemistry with the sea snakes in that movie.

Good call journey. I love that movie, but that was a poor pairing. How about Hoffman with Russo in Outbreak? That's not the greatest either. Actually, Hoffman with any hot chick is odd.

Journey- I agree with all of those couples.

I never liked Renee Russo with Mel Gibson, actually I have never like Renee Russo with anybody...and I liked Mel Gibson with Patsy Kensit even less.

In real life a couple that I don't "get" is Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford...I have never thought Claista Flockhart was even remotely attractive...and they have her paired with Rob Lowe on some Tv show.

I never could stand Clint Eastwood and Sondra Locke in anything ever...especially the movie Bronco Billy-that whole pairing made me want to gag.

Some pairings are way off, in Career Opportunities do you really think Jennifer Connelly would have given Frank Whaley the time of day in real life?

Posted by journey (Member # 7316) on :

I want to believe she would.

Some others I thought of:

Hugh Grant and Andie McDowell in Four Weddings and a Funeral

Ralph Macchio and Elisabeth Shue in The Karate Kid

Tom Cruise and Elisabeth Shue in ****tail

Ben Affleck and Kate Beckinsale in Pearl Harbor

Harrison Ford and Ann Heche in Six Days Seven Nights

Christian Bale and Katie Holmes in Batman Begins

Christian Bale and Maggie Gyllenhaal in The Dark Knight

Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman in Attack of the Clones

Billy Bob Thornton and Halle Berry in Monster's Ball

Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone in Casino (okay, it's more of a gross sex scene than an actual romance)

Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek in Fool's Rush In

Marlon Brando and Faye Dunaway in Don Juan DeMarco

Woody Allen with just about anyone

Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor in any movie they did together (except for "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?" and "The Taming Of The Shrew").

They were pretty hot in Cleopatra too, even though the movie wasn't too spectacular.

One more:

Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker in Failure to Launch

Clark Gable & Marilyn Monroe in The Misfits.

Hard to say if they were really actually a couple per se but there was an intent to at least imply something was going on between the two of them. Whatever it was I wasn't buying into it.

Devolution here,

A tie for the worst is Glenn Close and anyone.

Hot Sex scene in Fatal Attraction not withstanding. She has neverbeen the woman that should get the guy.

We are DEVO
