Not decade based. What do you think are some of the best movie scenes in history?
My two personal favourites are
The eggplant/cantaloupe scene between Christopher Walken & Dennis Hopper from True Romance
The final shootout scene between Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach & Lee Van Cleef from The Good, The Bad & The Ugly Posted by 80'sRocked (Member # 6979) on :

When it comes to my favorite music scene, this is awesome.
Drew Ballinger plays the instrumental "Dueling Banjos" on his guitar with a mentally-challenged hillbilly youth named Lonnie. From the movie Deliverance. Here. Posted by 80'sRocked (Member # 6979) on :
Those are all good guys...Another great dueling scene was the guitar duel with Steve Vai and Ralph Macchio in "Crossroads." Here's part of it:
I think the movie "The Bad Seed" is so well made...every scene in it is awesome. Patty McCormack's acting is so amazing for her age...here's a good scene from it:
Best scene period: Clouseau follows Maria Gambrelli to a nudist colony in A Shot in the Dark, finds he has little choice but to go along with house rules to get inside (although he gets creative to maintain a certain degree of dignity), finds her with still yet another dead body, have to leave without their clothes, promptly get stuck in traffic back in Paris and exposed, and lands himself in prison for the 4th time in the picture. Priceless Sellers, priceless Pink Panther, priceless for all time.
Moreover:
From the 70s: the Bandit guns his Trans Am over the out of order bridge in the film's best stunt. The deputy following just manages to stop in time and celebrates, only to have Sheriff Justice slam him into the river from behind.
From the 80s: "You're going the wrong way!" Made even funnier by how our heroes are completely unconcerned with their situation (Del's mocking "You're drunk" gesture to the other driver is the best part; interesting how he actually seems to want to race him) until it finally dawns on Neal a hair too late that something might be amiss. The pure panic on their faces as they drive between the trucks, coupled with the patent absurdity thrown in with Del-as-the-devil and the subsequent bent steering wheel, sends it to a higher degree.
From the 90s: Marv dives forwards and actually gets Kevin for a brief moment, only to be promptly introduced to Axel the tarantula. Nothing beats his patented peanut whistle scream, ever. Then his attempt to kill it that only adds more injury to Harry's insult with the wire (and Harry's upset counterattack) makes it the best gag in probably the wildest 20 minutes ever captured on film.
From the 00s: Harder to call with less of a field to choose from, but I'd have to go with the amusing introudction to Dulaac Shrek and Donkey have to watch when they arrive (of course we should take to care to wipe our...face). Their contrary reaction to it is great.

Pulp Fiction is my all time favourite movie

Sam, I know you'll agree on this choice because you enjoy this flick too. I'm going with the scene where Wooderson, Pink, and Mitch enter the Emporium to Bob Dylan's "Hurricane" in Dazed & Confused.

Dazed and Confused - Great movie! That song is also amazing.

Yes Bob Dylan's Hurricane is a great song.
This past Friday afternoon I was sitting in my favourite bar playing trivia and somebody played that song on the jukebox. I was sitting there answering questions about WWII, authors I never heard of and other useless information picturing Wooderson, Pink and Mitch walking into the Emporium with all the polyester wearing people playing foosball.

The opening scene from Way of The Gun rates as one of my all time favourite movie moments. The way that girl (Sarah Silverman?) goes off on one before getting punched in the face really makes me chuckle.

Good picks everyone… This wasn’t easy, but here are mine:
70’s: Probably The Godfather as a whole.
80’s: The death of sgt. Elias Grodin in ‘Platoon’. This was the first movie where I actually had some sympathy for Dafoe and than this happens.. It wasn’t exactly a pleasant sight to see, but the scene really got to me, like no other ever did. Sad… very sad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ue8VS-bcj88
90’s: Here I’d go for the final confrontation between Doc Holiday (Val Kilmer in one of his best performances) and Johnny Ringo in 'Tombstone': “ I’m your Huckleberry”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGpajGj07BU
00’s: A more humorous scene for the 00’s. I’d pick the Monday morning tape-scene from ‘High Fidelity’. Jack Black’s nasty little dance to Walking on Sunshine really cracked me up. I LOVE this movie! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVv5sIY57TA

28 Weeks Later - This movie was awesome. Far exceeded what I was expecting:
Classic Sam. I love that movie.

I was just flipping through the channels and came across the movie 'The Great Dictator' with Charlie Chaplin. I've never seen this movie before but I happened to turn it there while this scene was playing and was blown away by it. Keep in mind that this movie was from 1941 and is a satire on Hitler. The globe in this scene represents so much symbolism.
This is one of his "breakout" "talkie" movies. It got the public interested in him all over again. The last movie he did in 1936 as a silent movie "Modern Times" is considered a masterpiece. He actually hated talkies and thought that pantomime was the "true art". He was a personal friend of Winston Churchill... Truly a genius in his time...
Great post Sir!

I'd actually go with the opening "Dawn of Man" sequence in 2001: A Space Odyssey as the greatest opening scene of all time, though not as funny as Reservoir Dogs. I also love the opening scene in Once Upon a Time in the West (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHZpO6aNLwE).
