Not interested in remakes, but the actor they cast to play Freddy is an interesting choice, Jackie Earle Haley was excellent as Rorschach in Watchmen.
Haley went to audition for the original Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) but director Wes Craven cast his friend instead, who was that friend I hear you ask? none other than Johnny Depp.

A lot of times remakes just don't work (Prom Night, Friday the 13th, When a Stranger Calls, The Fog all come to mind) but I really, really liked the Elm Street remake. You just have to go in with an open mind, instead of immediately bashing it cause it's a remake and Robert Englund's not in it. Jackie Earle Haley did a good job as Freddy, I thought.

That's why I pay attention to neither critics nor reviews. I form my own judgments and opinions. And, once more, I liked it.

Neither do I, but Im still convinced that it sucks!

So far only a few remakes have impressed me. But time and time again curiosity forces me to see them. Same with this one. I will probably see it once it’s released on dvd.
What I can say is - and this is strictly based on the few pictures I've seen – that I don’t really like the look of this Freddy. His head seems too big! And I also heard Haley does a ‘Christian Bale’ on the voice.. meaning he's overdoing it a bit.
Oh well, I will give it a chance, but don’t expect much of it.

I saw it and to my surprise..It Was REALLY GOOD!..they take elements from the 1st 4 Nightmare On Elm St and blend it in to make for a better storyline..It was waaaaaaaaay better than Halloween remake & Friday the 13th remake..the new freddy was one scary S.O.B. i like that fact they didnt make freddy all silly like in the previous elm st's..he was Dark & Demented

the original scared me a lot as i was only 14 when i saw it on television - had nightmares for ages..Got a feeling its gonna bring back nightmares again - hammer house of horrors still gives me that feeling. Kinda like songs that stir up the emotions you had - all your senses from the past are relived. For this reason i know its gonna make me feel a little uncomfortable and this is one of the reasons people will see remakes regardless of what people say about them - producers know this - it almost like psychological advertising from the past...see how everyone will go and see them.
BTW ive said this before but . . .if you havnt seen The Omen remake then i highly recommend it because that was done very well indeed. 10/10 better than the original IMO

I refuse to watch any of the remakes of the 80's horror films. They were great the first time, they don't need to be remade.
And Robert Englund is the only Freddy Kruger!

like petty, i loved the halloween remake. some hated it, but i thought it was brilliant.
the friday the 13th remake was boring to me. didn't care for it one bit.
i saw the new nightmare on elm street last monday and thought it was ok. (loved the end scene!) and i like Jackie Earle Haley as an actor and thought he was great in the watchmen. he played freddy very well but the movie was so-so, IMO.

The ending was good, Ronnie. I jumped lol.
As for Friday the 13th it did suck. I kept looking at the clock, wondering when on Earth it was gonna end. A lot of times, after I've ordered a movie on PPV or seen it in the theatres, I'll still watch it when it comes on HBO or whatever. Well Friday the 13th has been on Cinemax a bunch of times and I've never turned to it.
