anyone else here go see this? it came out last weekend. it was pretty funny and had some good scary moments.
i'm a justin long fan so i almost had to watch it. it had a lot of cheesy moments (almost like an 80s movie) but then sam raimi co-wrote and directed it, who also wrote army of darkness and evil dead.
hope you all check it out!

I've always been skeptical of PG-13 rated horror movies but may have to check this one out. I'm hearing a lot of good things about it.........

Good movie, like snippets of classic Raimi; cool use of the old Universal logo to give it the retro look.

I gave my review of Drag Me to Hell already in another thread, but I concur that it's a good, solid horror movie with plenty of Evil Dead throwback moments to please hardcore Raimi fans. It's by no means a new revoltion in horror or anything, but it's good none-the-less.

I received this in the post this morning. Although this is a blind buy, I tend to enjoy Horror/Comedies, so I don't think this will be any different.

Um, I didn't like it. I'm so glad I didn't buy the DVD. I did, however, think the ending was very fitting.

Watched it this past weekend. It had its good and bad parts. If you view it as a comedy you will enjoy it much more. It was pure Raimi ! The nosebleed scene was classic !

watched this recently, the opening scene with the kid getting dragged to hell got me hooked and since its a sam raimi movie i loved the whole camera panning thats a raimi speciality (just watch evil dead) and you'll know what im on about. im hoping there will be a sequel as this could well turn into a trilogy easily. lets hope sam buddy and my fave movie actor Bruce campbell makes a cameo in it somewhere, you cant have a raimi movie without the king of b movies campbell being in it.

Just watched this and I really liked it!! The whole time I was thinking it's got that comedy thing going on like The Evil Dead movies then I search on here and find this....I was right
and I watched it alone in the dark.....I jumped many many times....I really liked it for a newer horror movie.

meh...this movie didn't do much for me.

i agree with pyro
and i dont like justin long, he has no personality.
the story was good but it could have been casted better, i prefer old school horror effects and none of this heavy cgi stuff.

Watched Drag Me To Hell last night and i think that it was a so-so horror comedy. But it sure entertained the whole 90 minutes. Some very cartoonish Ivan/Sam Raimi scenes and jokes but the sad thing was that the cgi was all over the place.
I read that the script was written already in the early 90s. Maybe they should have made the movie right away = less cgi fx.
Lorna Raver did an awesome job as Sylvia Ganush. The best character in the movie without a doubt.

I really liked it for some reason! I still bring it up when i'm looking for a horror movie......"I really like Drag Me to Hell.....got any mvoies like it?" I may get kicked......I like it more then the evil dead movies........"shsssssssssssh"

Muffy i am not a big fan of the Evil Dead movies.

I'll join the heretic brigade. I like "Evil Dead 2" the most, but I am not a big fan of the series either. I saw the first one the day it opened, mostly because of the big Stephen King quote in the ads touting it as the next great thing, and I was mystified. It had a lot of can-do spirit of some energetic young filmmakers, but it certainly did not rank up there as a great horror film. Then the series got even jokier and goofier in the sequels. I like Sam Raimi's work--really do, go get "The Gift" and "A Simple Plan" right now if you haven't seen them--but his earlier undisciplined stuff lacks a lot of the maturity that he picked up later over the years. That said, "Drag Me to Hell" is also no world beater, but still a lot of fun.

Darkman is my fave Raimi film
Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :
wow i haven't seen Darkman since the theaters haha. Muffy and i should revisit that one, since we both love Liam Neeson.
Crash, i remember A Simple Plan, but never watched it. you have me curious now, i think i will check that one out!

Uhm.. i didn't like Drag Me To Hell at all ! I found it nearly impossible to watch.
I'll better leave it at that.
Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :
i like darkman as well. i really like crimewave, evil dead 2 and army of darkness.
not sure if many will stand with me on crimewave, but i will happily stand alone
