When i started driving in 85, the cheapest i remember was 66 cents. This was in the Kansas City Missouri metro. Current price is $2.04.

I can remember as low as 85 cents around 1987 or so, although it was probably a bit lower in the years before that.

I assume in America you guys pay gas by the gallon. If that is the case, 2 bucks a gallon is pretty good.
In Australia we pay by the litre so there is roughly 3.8 litres in a gallon. 1 litre of gas here costs about $1.30 a litre so times that by 3.8 and you are looking at about $4.95 for a gallon.
In Australia, the cheapest I can remember seeing for a litre was in the late 80's at 62 cents.
And , please excuse my Australian way of spelling liter.

The cost of living in my area is attractive. Hope u dont have to drive anywhere Bernie! where r u at Chris. I noticed on Die Hard a gas station had it for .79/gal. Not sure when it was shot but I know it came out in 88.

I'm from northeastern Pennsylvania. Our prices might be a bit inflated due to the state having among the highest gas taxes in the country, but having gone through them over $4 for a month or so 7 years ago, the present isn't too bad considering.

Nova Scotia, Canada...right up there with Bernie at $1.09 per liter. In the recent past we were up quite a bit higher. A few months back was also the first time we were under $1 per liter in years and years. I can`t remember the actual prices in the 80s, but have a fond memory related to this. As a kid (11, 12, 13 or so) my best friend`s older sister had an old car and would take us to the beach throughout the summer...there was always a group of us who would scramble to gather loose change to combine for gas. I remember going to the pumps asking for like $1.76 worth of gas (which even at the time was a bit laughable), yet...it got us places! The added bonus...some of her friends were absolutely beautiful...I`d pay 37 cents to look at them any day!! Ahhhh...the memories...laugh my gas off....

The gas prices here have remained relatively stable over the last 10 years. It has gone up as high $1.60 or so but I remember it getting to $1.20 back in 04 so it is relatively stable but definitely not relatively cheap. Might trade my car for hover board. Anyone?

I don't even remember gas prices, cause I was broke in the 80s and put all my gas on my Texaco credit card. Hahaha. I loved my 1986 Red Chevy Cavalier.

With the price of oil tanking, I thought I would bump this. The cheapest I have seen it was tonight at $1.17 a gallon and heard on the news some gas station near here had it for $1 a gallon! Can you believe that.

We're seeing prices in Nova Scotia that we haven't seen in 7-8 years....today stands at 84.5 cents per liter....wow!!! that's a big difference. Would be nice to see them try to keep things reasonable for a while...

I hope so kevdug! My husband and I are coming up to Canada this year. We are going on a fishing trip at an outfitter in Ontario. They have individual cabins. We'll be driving from western PA to Detroit, and cross over into Windsor. From there, it's a long trip. I can't wait! I haven't been to Canada since I was 16.
