That's right I've resorted to plastering pics of JAAAAKKKEEE!!! on this thread with hopes that someone will at least comment.
Still resisting?
As unbelievable as it sounds to say, Michael Schoeffling is 51 years old. Even more unbelievable and one of the biggest mysteries from the 80's in my opinion.. is that not a single picture of Schoeffling has surfaced since he left Hollywood behind.
It is shocking in a way .. all we know is that he lives in Newfoundland, Pennsylvania with his wife Valerie, daughter Scarlett, and son Zane. Fittingly his daughter Scarlett was Prom Queen of her high school in 2008. The rumor is that she models in New York now?
On the flip side..
Whatever happened to the cast of "Revenge of the Nerds"?
Ronnie saw this recently and thought it was a cool update on one of our fav 80's films. That pic above is just classic in my opinion.
Who else wants to attend the "Totally 80's Hollywood Bowl" on Saturday 9/29?
The line-up: The Psychedelic Furs, The Go-Go's, The Motels, and Bow Wow Wow! I'm hoping to visit LA again this year, but sadly I don't think that date is gonna work out for me.
However, similar to Paul .. I had the pleasure to see The Psychedelic Furs in concert last year and it was incredible as always!
Wait this has been floating around for a long time on Michael Schoeffling.. anyone believe this girl?
"I live in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, and am as star struck as anyone else. We were in the middle of remodeling our home a few months back and looking for new furniture. We went to a couple of places and found nothing to our liking. Then we went to a third place.
As my parents were looking around I saw this guy in the back of the store and almost fainted.
It was Michael Schoeffling, the guy who played Jake Ryan in Sixteen Candles. I immediately knew it was him because I've seen the movie more than 100 times (literally). He gained some weight and looked older, but I knew it was him. I wasn't going to, but I knew I might never get the opportunity again.
So, I casually approached him and asked him if his name was Michael Schoeffling. He laughed and said it was. I couldn't believe it. I told him how much I loved Sixteen Candles and how I wish it were real life for me. I asked him why he was now a carpenter instead of an actor in Hollywood, and he said that he knew movie roles were getting more difficult to get so he decided to move back to Pennsylvania and start his own business. He now makes his own furniture. ... I only got to talk to him for a few minutes because my parents were ready to leave. It's like a dream because he was so nice and I never ever would have believed I would have met a celebrity in Pennsylvania. And he was such a nice guy."

Val, great pics of JAAAAKE
That's some cool info..I believe that the girl ran into him while out and about. We all know "he's out there.."
You just reminded me to listen to the Motels hits album I have, Val.
Sweet tunes Ronnie! And of course you know I totally dig on that album cover. Thanks for posting those songs.
I'm gonna play "Total Control" next time I'm up late at night. Can definitely envision myself with my ipod headphones on relaxing in the Dance Cave listening to it.

I agree Valley whatever happened to JJAAAKE!!! Talk about someone pulling back out of the spotlight, all the way back into the darkness, never to be heard from again
It is not possible to find anything out about him anymore, although I did not know that about his daughter, so that was an interesting tidbit.
I am sending my vibes out but he isn't responding, darn it! I'll never stop trying though....

WOW! Those pics of Mr. Schoeffling are white hot!!
I've seen that post about the girl from Wilkes-Barre running into him...it sent me on a witch hunt for years to no avail. I live in the same area as Michael...oh well...someday perhaps !
Loving The Motels album cover! Never heard "Shame" or "Total Control" but I'll be checking them out later online. Awesome Ronnie! Love music suggestions!!

Man, Michael Schoeffling is one of the biggest mysteries of the 80's. Mind you the whereabouts and status of Jenny Wright and Amanda Peterson are up there as well. I think a while back he had the same amount of inquiriesas the late great John Hughes. I picked up one of his more unknown movies called Sylvester a while back on VHS and have been meaning to watch it. He was a natural, surprised he couldn't eke out leading man roles like Matt Dillon. In fact will have to check if he was even considered for a role in the Outsiders. Hope he surfaces someday.
As for the Motels, just picked up their cassette tape Danger for cheap. Love that early Motels. Love Matha Davis's voice. Sometimes i get them mixed up with Quarterflash, but the Motels had more hits.

Thanks for the feedback everyone .. I knew the Michael Schoeffling pics would get the girls swooning!
Oh hi Riptide.. nice jacket!
Actually, this topic came up again from a discussion with Ronnie about "Sixteen Candles". We both are amazed that in the world of iPhones with cameras, Facebook, and Twitter that Michael Schoeffling has been able to live his life in ambiguity for all these years.
How is there not one single picture of Schoeffling since he left Hollywood behind? His daughter was Prom Queen of Newfoundland High school in 2008.. yet no pictures of her proud legendary pop anywhere? Is Michael Schoeffling a member of "The Lost Boys" and we just don't know about it?
