I don't think Tom Cruise was considered a Brat Packer...right? But he should have been.
Others that seem to fit that group are:
Ralph Macchio Elizabeth Shue Patrick Swayze (he was a little bit older) Kelly Lynch Diane Lane Ione Skye Brad Pitt Val Kilmer Jill Schoelen Deborah Foreman Joyce Hyser Zach Galligan Phoebe Cates Jennifer Jason Leigh Charlie Sheen (how come he wasn't one?) Nicholas Cage

Well, first of all... I don't think those people actually hung out and dated/partied together etc... the "brat pack" did. And it was a derogatory term, given to them by some douche reporter, after St. Elmo's Fire! None of them liked the name, and spent most of their career running away from that label.

Oh...well I thought that it was because of their age and their fame.....because I didn't know Molly Ringwald partied it up...did she?

Well, I imagine so... she was rich, famous and young in Hollywood.... I doubt she sat at home and did needlepoint! But how she ever dated Anthony Michael Hall, is beyond me!

Do you think Matthew Broderick was too old for the designation?
Posted by Riptide (Member # 457) on :
As for Ringwald, she dated Adam Horovitz too before Ione.

How about Robert Downey jr. and Sarah Jessica Parker?

I was talking to friend about this, and we came to the conclusion that the following 80's celebrities seemed appropriate for Brat Pack status, based on their associations, movies, and lifestyles:
Charlie Sheen Robert Downey Jr. Jon Cryer Mary Stuart Masterson Matt Dillon

I never thought that Molly was a party girl though...I thought she kind of packed it up and moved to France for awhile, to get away from the whole Hollywood scene. I never ever heard anyone say she ever did drugs...or had an alcohol problem.
Andrew McCarthy said he was drunk or hung over in almost every scene in Pretty in Pink.
What about James Spader he hung out with all of them, didn't he?
Lori Laughlin too.

Well, you don't have to do drugs or have an alcohol problem to party!
She probably moved cuz the roles dried up. Didn't she do some softcore flicks in France??

I think she had a falling out with Hughes who wanted her to be in Some Kind of Wonderful, after that her A list shine never really returned.

These lyrics from the Beastie Boys song 3 Minute Rule, is supposedly about Molly Ringwald, as performed by former boyfriend Adam 'ad rock' Horowitz:
Girl you're walking tall now with your fancy clothes You got fancy things going up your nose You get fancy gifts from expensive men You're a dog on a leash like a pig in a pen Mothership connection getting girl's affection If your life needs correction don't follow my direction You got your 8 by 10 your agent your Harley You be driving around Hollywood yes sorry charlie Cause I'm running things like some Mack *beep* Your only claim to fame is you're a false fake sucker You slip you slack you clock me you lack While I'm reading on the road by my man Jack Kerouac My veins are like vines Filled with red wine Poetry in motion coconut lotion I had to diss the girl because she got too emotional Are you experienced little girl I want to know what goes on in your little girl world Give time for your mind it's hard to forget me I'll take your pride for a ride if you let me So peace out now, and keep peacing out Full throttle to the bottle and full full clout And I'm out

good job, pointing that out...
that's true. i saw an interview with the guy who wrote the piece on them, giving them the name THE BRAT PACK and the actors were not very thrilled about it. but they hung out together on set and off set of movies. i also saw interviews with the brat packers who spoke specifically about this...
