There was a time when these elusive shadow warriors, resurrected from medieval Japan, became an integral part of 80s popular culture. Interestingly enough, they were no longer exclusively associated with the underworld of assassination, spying and subterfuge but quite often depicted as heroes or pursing some righteous vendetta. The last time I saw ninjas on screen was in The Last Samurai, and they were up to their usual tricks; trying to whack Ken Wantanabe's Samurai leader in an elaborate ambush. Uma Thurman and Christian Bale utilised ninja disguises in Kill Bill 2 and Batman Begins, but we need to see more honest-to-goodness ninjas back in the movies.

I loved ninjas too. I asked Santa for Shurikens at one point. LOL. Was a real big fan of the Master, Enter and Revenge of the Ninja, anything with Sho Kosugi in it. Maybe people will beg to differ, but I thought some of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and even a certain Chris Farley movies really kind of made Ninjas seem like a joke in the 90's.

Thing is, Ninjas - your real Ninja that is, I'm not talking about one of those ninjas that you look at and you think "You're not a real ninja, you're just wearing a black jumper" - they moved by stealth, approaching their target unseen, striking with silent and deadly accuracy like a surgeon removing your spleen without your knowledge, and then fade into the background from whence they came, leaving no trace of their existance to betray their unknown and unwitnessed activities. They are one with the night, blending into the shadows and the unseen places, never emerging but to strike down their prey.....
So let me get the question right: where have the bad guys dressed in black, who you only see or hear when they are about to kill you, gone?
