Okay, why is it that some of the crappiest stuff is readily available on DVD at Best Buy but so many great 80's tv shows are no where to be found? What are some shows that you want to see get a DVD release? My picks are as follows:

Silver Spoons
My Two Dads
Square Pegs
One Day At A Time
Dynasty Season 2 and forward
It's A Living
Mr. Belvedere

Did they ever release Max Headroom on DVD?

I barely remember Square Pegs. I did catch part of an episode on a channel a few months ago and it looked pretty good. I think it is definitely one that would take you back to the Valley Girl days of the 80s.

I don't think it did, Alex. I didn't think of it at the time when I was posting mine. I'd like to have Family Ties on DVD, too. I always enjoyed it.

SAPPHIRE AND STEEL. David Mccallum at his best.
Apparently it is on dvd but not in a nice cleaned up version that is any better than video.

I forgot to add "Head of the Class."

Miami Vice Season 1 & 2 are out.
(We are waiting for 3)...they told me in Kmart the other day that once you see it on TV...which they just played a whole weekend of Miami Vice season 3...on the Sleuth channel...Kmart said usually it comes out to DVD within a few weeks after that. (I never knew that).

Some of the Shows I want are from the 70's too, but they need released.

The Bionic Woman
The Six Million Dollar Man
The Man from Atlantis
BJ and the Bear
The Powers of Matthew Star
Grizzly Adams
Family
Eight is Enough
Square Pegs
Double Trouble
Alice (they did release 6 episodes) But, they need to release an entire season

So I found a show I hadn't remembered about and I love when this happens!!!

Out of this World!

This is the only thread on our site I could find mentioning it.

Well on youtube there are tons of clips of the show. I love it and I love youtube!!

Does anyone know why shows like this get played on foreign tv? yet we'd never hear of it ever again here? I only know that from the very foreign subtitles on the episodes on Youtube???

The eternally underrated Father Dowling Mysteries is at the top of my list. It would also be nice to get the full run of Night Court with the definitive cast, rather than currently with only the experimental first season and a comparatively sparse Best Of set.

Cindi and Adventures posted back in 2006 probably before their wish lists were released. I'd like to see Amazing Stories Season 2 get a release.......

yeah I dug this thread up from 2006 when I did a search for
Out of this World.

thanks for the link Jdoc, I did find out about it from RetroJunk.com

Here's the youtube link if anybody wants to watch the first two episodes. I used to love this show as a kid. Can't believe I of all people "nostalgia freak" forgot about it??

Additionally, it may be nice to one day see either Automan and/or Katts and Dog/Rin Tin Tin K9 Cop, both of which have gotten too little home exposure.

This is very true. Singer's body is much more buff, though.

WOW, based on my thread here from 2006, I guess some prayers are actually answered...

Silver Spoons-Season 1 got a release but didn't sell well so I guess it's back to obscurity...we'll never get to revisit the episode where Whitney Houston gives the Rickster a kiss!

My Two Dads-Seasons 1 & 2 have been released.

Square Pegs got an AWESOME DVD release complete with great new interviews with the entire cast, except for Merritt Butrick, a/k/a Johnny Slash, who passed away in 1989 .

One Day At A Time-Season 1 but no word on future releases...

Dynasty-Good progress here, Seasons 1-4 have been released in all their fabulousness!

It's A Living-Nothing, not even a blip about it...I think this one's a goner .

Mr. Belvedere-Seasons 1-3 have been released! Yay!!!

Not too bad!! Now if we could just get Season 3 of Too Close For Comfort...

Not that I'm always shilling for this, but there is hope for some of these shows through "burn to order" websites. Warner Brothers started the movement with the Warner Archive (which has the complete second season of "Falcon Crest" for you, Ms. Mancini). I think that Columbia and Fox either have or are gearing up the same thing. In this tight economy, I suspect that this will eventually be the distribution norm for all back catalog titles.

And I will add to the number of folks who want to see "Midnight Caller" released on DVD. That show was truly excellent and memorable, so stylish and thoughtful with wonderful music, not your typical police show or even one-hour drama. The pilot is one of the best episodes of any TV series ever (some brilliant visuals set to the music of
Sade), and most of the other episodes are great too. Gary Cole just shines in the lead, but I suspect that because the show is so melancholy and downbeat ("too intelligent," perhaps?) that it has fallen through the cracks.
