I am wondering why we are here. Are we all just 80's children going older or maybe this site is plenty of mature 80's lovers??
I'm here because I'm a 80's child who is turning into a nostalgic man...

31, for another 123 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have really embraced my 30's. I will forever be an 80's child because I just simply love everything about the 80s. I love the movies, the controversy, the LOVE!!!
I used to think way back in our favorite decade that my mom was crazy for listening to music from her high school years of the 60s. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS: I HAVE BECOME MY MOTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember when we used to always say, "I am never gonna be mean like you or do things like you" BITE YOUR TONGUE!!!!!!

Cactus...I don't think your totally alone.
I am 37. I actually feel better and feel even younger than I did 10 years ago. They say age is just a number...the older you get....the more you believe that, cause I feel like I have never changed. I don't feel like I have aged at all. I know I have though, but when I look at other people my age, I think wow...is that how old I look now too???
Posted by Mr. Tia (Member # 4374) on :
Old age comes as a bit of a surprise. I'm 36 and can already feel the big four-oh looming. (anybody ever see Annie Hall? All the good movies were made in the 70s! ). Then again I remember when I had my 20th birthday I was distraught because I wasn't a teenage anymore! seems a bit silly in retrospect. I'd never wanna go back to being 19 again. I was so upset about stuff that didn't really matter that much, and actually felt much older then than I do now.

I know topics like this are kinda debatable from person to person, but IMHO an "80s child" is literally just that. If you were a kid (under 12 or so - basically pre-adolescence) for a majority of the decade. I'd say 1976-84ers are about the prime age for this.
If you were in Middle or high school, you're a prime '80s teenager. The crowd in Breakfast Club are a perfect example - like 1967-72 born. Mid '70s babies could even squeeze in too.
I was born in late 1981 (that's age 24 1/2 if anyone's counting, LOL) and I have a perfect memory from mid '86 and up. I even have a few of the vaguest, teeniest snippets as far back as '84. No matter what, though, I've always considered myself an "80s child".

Nah, it didn't to me. I guess I was/am just unique, though!
Perhaps it was also growing up largely around adults over 30, so that seemed more "normal" to me. In other words, it's not like an 8-year old kid who, say, spends much of his time at school or in the neighborhood with other kids that age. Therefore he may look at things more from strictly a "kid" perspective, since that's what he's used to experiencing.
P.S. One thing that is weird with the passing of time, is Prince's "1999". I remember listening to ir as a kid, knowing it was ten or twelve years in the future (the time itself never seemed far off, but if I was 6 thinking about being 17-18, it did). When we got there, I felt it was weird enough, but now it being seven years in the past, it's totally like whoa!

Going by the information provided in this thread, it's my pleasure to announce that the oldest Rewinder (on this thread anyway, if there are any older Rewinders out there, let us know) is GoldTransAM at 44 years of age, followed by Sammy Hain at 41 and modgod Paul at 40.
The youngest Rewinder is Lupa at age 16, next is Mouse Avenger at 17 and Van Wilder at 18 along with 80's Movie Lover also 18.
The average age of the Rewinders that posted on this thread is 30.09, meaning that Devo, Motz, Canyoudigit and Angeleyes are completely average!
The average Rewinder, then, was born in 1976 and therefore spent the 80's between the ages of 4 and 14.

Unless I'm wrong, I think I might be the youngest member here (currently 22, turning 23 in September). A lot of my favorite childhood movies growing up were from the '80s (Gremlins, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, The Neverending Story, The Goonies), not to mention my parents had an NES before I was before so that naturally became my first video game console. I guess that's how I came to love the '80s.

The years of hard partying, random streetfighting and crazy stunts have, luckily, been somewhat negated by the last five years of martial arts training, running and working out. Though I am starting to feel the effects of "old" age.
