There are few "firsts" that I can recall from my youth, but the first album I ever purchased is actually quite easy.
Information Society was first for me. I purchased the cassette at a department store. It was decent. I still enjoy some of the tunes from that album.

Dio: Sacred Heart cassette. Remember the place which was a department store at nearest town but not the exact date.
Late ´85, or early ´86. Still love the album.

The cassette of 'You Can Dance' by Madonna. On vinyl it was the 'Electric Dreams' soundtrack (well after the movie).

Yup. "Pure Energy" was the track title. It was the reason for me purchasing the album. I had heard it on the radio at some point and decided to make my first album purchase. I ended up with quite a collection of cassettes several years later.

Very hazy on what it was I first purchased. I think it was Thompson Twins into the gap. But I do recall it might have been the Cult's Love album after first hearing she sells sanctuary.

I'm pretty sure it was ...And Justice For All by Metallica. But I could be wrong.

It was either "Cargo" or "Business As Usual" on cassette - both were great '80's albums by the Australian group "Men at Work".
