Sometimes a band you loved stays around too long and releases past their prime product or just hangs around for retro dollars. Really good comeback albums are rare, although I will always give an old band a chance. Some of the groups listed have new/recent albums out and some haven't released new product in years, but just tour.
U2-Still going, but putting the entire album for free on ipods felt like it was forcing it down people's throats. I think they have gone as far as they can and should call it a day. What I would like though is to get solo albums from Bono and maybe the Edge who I think needs more of a spotlight for his guitar skills and vocals than the scant contributions over the years. Thinking of Numb and Seconds.
Duran Duran-They just released a new album of which I have yet to hear. Something about their age which is a hard sell, plus their over reaching efforts to stay contemporary with the dance scene. They have accomplished everything, who wants to see fifty year olds in eyeliner? I would also love for Simon to do something without Nick Rhodes for once.
Psychedelic Furs-They still tour occasionally. I wouldn't mind seeing them, but Richard Butler's voice is shot. Almost as bad as Dylan's. He sounded so good and elegant back in the day. Damn you nicotine!
Echo and the Bunnymen- Still releasing albums and still touring. Sadly like Richard Butler, Ian Mac's voice is in the same damaged category. He has a rasp now and can't hit the high notes.
Adam Ant-Poor Adam has endured a lot of hardships over the past decade with mental illness. I was happy to see him attempt a comeback a few years ago with a new album and tour. The album didn't sound like him much at all in my opinion. His voice has changed a bit too. Don't hear those yelps like we used to. It's really hard because Adam was such a big visual image back in the day. He lost his hair, and wears a napoleon outfit with facial hair. Just seems he is trying too hard. What I would love is for him to work with his old guitarist Marco Pirroni again.
I have some more additions. It's really hard to write some of these because everybody ages, some better than others. You didn't get to see some of these groups back in the day so you relish the fact they still tour. But sometimes you reach the painful conclusions that they should move on and keep the good memories intact.
There are some artists that I am on the fence about, like Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Simple Minds, Gary Numan, and Billy Idol. I think it's that they have moments of inspiration, reinvention and energy that others lack. In fact David Bowie's comeback album the Next day was one of the better ones I had ever heard, and he is older than everyone on this list! Anyways, interested to see your opinions and who you would add to the list.

The Mission UK- I heard a single off of their last album and if I didn't know it was them I would never have guessed this was The Mission. Wayne's voice sounded very raspy on that album and I have to believe it doesn't sound any better live.
I'll always support them though, same with The Furs and The Bunnymen.

I listened to Duran Duran's new album - paper gods the other day and have mixed feelings about it,got to say there's only about 3 or 4 singles I like at max, same goes for a-ha's new album - cast in steel there's only about 4 tracks in total, but i think i'm just pleased to still have them around.
I suppose at the end of the day something is better than nothing,I do think though when they try to change there sound too much to appeal to a younger audience is when things tend to go pear shaped!
https://youtu.be/_RAu8mirJMM - the universe alone by Duran duran, this is one of my favourites from there new album.
https://youtu.be/k0lJNGbZhGM - objects in the mirror by a-ha,I really like this track and think it sounds a bit like the a-ha of old!

Poison. Not that great to begin with, they need to just hang it up. I do like some of their songs, they're catchy, but they need to retire.

INXS finally got the message and hung up their boots a few years back. Hopefully they won't be back. They were rubbish after Hutchence died.

Yeah Bernie I really loved inxs with hutchence as there front man but as soon as he passed on they had no chance of ever being quite the same.
Is Australian group icehouse still going? - as I used to really like them, there man of colours album was absolutely awesome.

I am not sure but I doubt they would still be going. Icehouse have so many good songs. In fact it's one of the only bands that I can think of that hardly has a bad song. Iva Davies had the biggest baddest mullet in the 80's.

Icehouse was a great band. I have two of their earlier albums when they were new wavish. The debut album and Primitive man. Is Cold Chisel still around? I agree with the mullet. Although I recall Henry Lee Summer could have given him a run for his money.

Cold Chisel are still occasionally doing tours. I remember though one of them died a couple years. Primitive Man is a very good album. I used to have a great tape back in the early 90's and it was a compilation just called Great Southern Land - it was one of the best tapes I have ever owned. Mullets? How were they ever stylish?
