The other day a younger fella I work with asked me if I had heard of a hairband from the 80s. He had seen them the previous week at a new bar in town called THe Scene. Its a small place that has a capacity of 400 and reminds me of my youth when going to c the local bands play. Anyway, the band was Faster Pussycat. They have pulled other big names like Sebastian Bach, Lita Ford, Bullet Boys just to name a few. Does anyone else know of any 80s bands that have played in their local city the last few years?

Loads of 80s bands are still touring and recording - here in the UK there's a massive 80s music industry going on, with some of the biggest festivals dedicated to the 80s. The Selecter (one of my favorite late 70s/early 80s ska bands) have just finished a world tour, and of course the very 80s band, The Psychedelic Furs, are going strong and touring almost constantly!

they had o.m.d and the human league the other year down at the winter gardens in margate (uk) which is not a million miles from where I live and i'm sure simple minds are performing there later on this year as I believe also are ub40.
I would have liked to have gone to all of these but the trouble is these bands always seem to have a habit of touring when your experiencing a lack of funds

to all. are the groups mentioned playing small venues or do they still play arenas?

The Psychedelic Furs play a mixture of venues - I've seen them in places that hold a few hundred up to a couple of thousand, but they also play the Hollywood Bowl at least once a year.

I spent my 40th birthday with Eddie Money and 4 of my friends at his concert...he was staying at the same hotel we were at, and we met him in the parking lot, and then after the concert he took pictures with us...and we met his manager, his bodyguards and I became friends with his drummer. It was so cool. I have seen him twice in concert. I never went to any concerts in the 80s, because my mom wouldn't let me...so since 1999- these are the people I have seen in concert: Journey, Hall and Oates, Rick Springfield, Poco, Pure Prairie League, Firefall, Orleans, The Little River Band, Huey Lewis and the News, The Starship, Sha Na Na, 38 Special, Bryan Adams, Ambrosia, REO Speedwagon... there is a place I go to alot for concerts and they still get tons of 80s bands...I have missed seeing Kenny Loggins, Loverboy, Night Ranger, Styx, Pat Benatar, and Heart and Winger- but I am glad they are all still touring.
