Long before Lady Gaga there was Dale Bozzio the lead singer of the group 'Missing Persons' with her quirky cool voice and outlandish fashion style.
Missing Persons is one of my fav bands from the 80's because of the their wicked music videos and of course the Valley Girl connection. Huh?
That's right, the key members of Missing Persons (Dale Bozzio, Terry Bozzio, and Warren Cuccurullo) met while working on an album for Mr. Frank Zappa. They soon went on to add bassist Patrick O'Hearn and keyboardist Chuck Wild to form the 80's version of Missing Persons.
As mentioned in the movie thread.. when the Missing Persons tune "Walking In LA" started to play in the new movie "Take Me Home Tonight" it was at that point, I just knew this film had found its 80's style!
There are actually too many fav tunes by Missing Persons for me to list them all, but the group's signature tunes would probably be "Destination Unknown' and "Words" which are both incredible tracks.
Looking back it feels as if I played the Missings Persons album 'Spring Session M' beyond reason as a teenager. But, it was just a masterpiece in my opinion with tunes like "Destination Unknown", "Words", "Windows", "Noticeable Ones" and the aforementioned "Walking In LA" to name a several gems.
Even though "Destination Unknown" was totally overplayed by me in the 80's.. I still so enjoy this tune. And it somehow currently kinda speaks to my state of mind at the moment.. having a blast, but don't know where life is taking me next!
I could play a couple more of Missing Persons better known tunes, but how about two of my favs from different 80's albums:

I know that Ronnie is a fan of Missing Persons from when we compared notes after watching "Take Me Home Tonight", but what I didn't mention was that I got to attend a Missing Persons concert at the San Diego House of Blues in 2007.
And I just found these pics:
The concert was a total blast!

Devolution here,
I like Missing Persons alot. I think it's the very new wave sound. I think of them when I hear Lene Lovich's "New Toy" I shouldn't say that though, now I'll play that song 3 days in a row.
We are DEVO

Thank you for this extraordinary posting. Do not know much about this band and I can't believe the quality of the songs chosen. Been listening non-stop for about an hour now.
How did you post the pictures as links? Sweet!!

I have their greatest hits album and love it. I've always sort of thought of MP as a companion band to Berlin, mostly because they both had songs about words and lead singers with awesome hair My favorite song by them would probably be "Walking in LA."

another good post, val. MP is one of my favorite bands. dale bozzio had such wild style, with her makeup, hair and fashion. i love it. and her talented husband, drum player Terry Bozzio's made-up face resembled Dale's, at times haha.
