I already knew the - clearly Bowie inspired - band Seona Dancing from their modest hits: 'More to Lose' and 'Bitter Heart'. But what I didn't know.. (until just now) was that comedian Ricky Gervais was half of the duo! I can't believe I never noticed that before, as 'Bitter Heart' has always been a guilty pleasure of mine.
They are actually pretty good.
Here's the video for 'Bitter Heart'. The quality is pretty crappy, but it's the only original music video I could find.
While searching for other bands featuring 80's celebrities, I also came across Martini Ranch. A New Wave Band formed by Andrew Todd Rosenthal and... Bill Paxton.
Devolution must have heard of them, as their single 'How Can the Labouring Man Find Time for Self-Culture' was produced by Devo guitarist Bob Casale. The song also features Alan Myers on drums and Mark Mothersbaugh on keyboards. As far as I know they only released one album: Holy Cow.
Two video's were released. One for 'How Can the Labouring Man Find Time for Self-Culture' featuring cameo's by Paxton's co-stars: Anthony Michael Hall (Weird Science), Rick Rossovich (Streets of Fire, The Terminator, Lords of Dicipline), Judge Reinhold (Lords of Dicipline) and Michael Biehn (Lords of Dicipline, The Terminator, Aliens).
Apparently the 'Reach' -music video was produced by James Cameron...

I'm always on the lookout for "new" old music. Thank God, YouTube has made this so much easier. Finding stuff like this really makes my day.
As for Bill Paxton... The funny thing is that I didn't even recognized him at first. It wasn't until I saw Anthony Michael Hall, that I got interested in finding out more.

Incredible stuff TKO. I remember hearing Trent Reznor was in a new wave band before NIN. I'vwe heard Billy Corgan's goth group before Smashing Pumpkins and even Patsy Kensit was in a late 80's British group, I think they just rerelased an edition.

Interesting Riptide, thanks.
I knew about Patsy Kensit's band Eighth Wonder. They had a minor hit with 'I'm Not Scared', which wasn't half bad.

It was Pet Shop Boys song, wasn't it?

He has been (over here) many times. I can still recall seeing him on a rubbish comedy show many years ago, and whilst discussing how bad the show was with friends, I pointed out that the guy who does the stand up bit is brilliant and going to go far. They didn't see it then, but they fully acknowledge to this day that I was singing his praises (against a tide of indifference) loooong before anyone else had heard of him.
