As a person that loves movies ... The Psychedelic Furs are the group that I cherish the most from the 80's. And of course, my favorite tune is "Love My Way" from the movie "Valley Girl". The bathroom scene where Randy appears behind Julie as this tune begins to play is movie magic in my opinion.
But let's not forget that most will remember The Psychedelic Furs best for the title tune for the movie "Pretty In Pink". Another excellent tune, but as the years have progressed so many more tunes from The Furs are on my list.
If you've never listened to tracks like "Heaven", "All That Money Wants", and "Heartbreak Beat" .. I highly recommend that you go check them out.
Even if you don't take the time to do that.. at least listen to the enchanting "The Ghost In You" a tune that I so enjoy..
If you ever get the chance to catch The Psychedelic Furs in concert .. you won't regret it. I've seen them three times .. each time in a different decade and they have never disappointed...

all you would need to own is "all of this and nothing" to see how incredibly awesome this band is beyond their two popular songs. dumb waiter is my favorite song.
i always say this band and big country are two bands that should have been bigger than they were.
i love this band.

Great band! These days, I still really enjoy Heartbreak Beat. Love the video for it as well.
The last time I saw them was in 2008, opening for Yaz. Richard Butler still has it.

I love this band, my biggest regret of the year was wehn I missed their concert with the Happy Mondays in October. I like pretty much all of their stuff from the early, punkish stuff like India and We Love you to their more commercial stuff like Heartbreak Beat, Ghost in You, She is Mone etc. I still have a hard time believing they weren't one of the bigger acts of the 80's. Stuff like Loverboy and Air Supply sold boatloads more than this band.

Mirror Moves.
This is my fave PF record. I listened to this daily in late 1984, early 85. A lot of great memories tied up in these songs. Even now it's great.

Secret Admirer .. you got to see Yaz in concert? Totally awesome! Upstairs at Eric's is a masterpiece in my opinion. Vince Clarke has played a role in giving me so many great tunes that I still enjoy today.
skatexedge.. though "Mirror Moves" doesn't contain my fav tune "Love My Way".. I must agree that it is The Furs best album.
Riptide.. I only wish that I knew as much about 80's music as you!

Yeah, they came through on a reunion tour in 2008. It was properly amazing!

Yaz? Yaz? Come now, surely we can all agree that whatever no-hopers had the original name they are now so far into obscurity we can call the band by their true name... YAZOO!
The Furs are great. Something about 'Ghost in You' gets me every time!

Breaking news.. at least for me.. but the Psychedeluc Furs start another US tour on May 27th..
A Furs concert is an incredible experience that everyone should do their best to find a way to attend.

Yay, they added a Chicago date! I will definitely try to see this. I've seen the Furs twice and they didn't disappoint.

I was going to mention this too. They are playing near me with SHE WANTS REVENGE which is a really good 80s-sounding modern day band.

just listened to love my way after not listening to it for a very long time and you know what...its just one of those songs that is simply unbelievable really. It really does epitimize the 80s feel in music. its just drowned in long played out chords accompanied with a drawn out voice...just awsome. It kind of reminds me of enjoy the silence by depeche mode for some reason.

I mean let's leave the party. I'm so sure! Kill. I'll meet you out front. Wait a minute, where are we gonna go? I don't care. What are we gonna do? Anything.

Bamersy .. that scene and the 'linking' at the bar that Ronnie mentioned in another posting are incredible moments!

That's a hell of a setlist Valley - glad you had a good time.
They're supposed to be coming back to the UK at the end of this year, after cancelling last time around, and me and the gorgeous Earth Angel will certainly be in attendance

i saw no dates in AZ, according to your tour dates. perhaps they are boycotting AZ too? haha j/k.
Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :
But Ronnie.. look at June 24th in LA.. do you realize what kind of week you could have there?
Instead of Ferris & The Furs.. you could have Gary & The Furs.. how awesome would that be?
Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :
that would be way too awesome, so awesome that i would o-d from too much awesomeness.
Posted by Valley (Member # 1322) on :
Thought this was cool news.. Deborah Foreman is going to be in an upcoming 'She Wants Revenge' music video.
I saw She Wants Revenge in concert with The Psychedelic Furs and they were awesome. Their music stands on its own, but you can tell they are influenced by groups like The Furs and Depeche Mode.
Posted by Nostalgic for the '80's (Member # 37454) on :
Big fan of '80's music (obviously), and I know everyone has heard of the great "Psychedelic Furs" - primarily because of the popularity of their "Pretty in Pink" song - which was connected to the iconic 1986 film of the same name.
However, the Furs deserve to be known for much more than just that one song. They were an iconic, ground-breaking new wave?! '80's group that had a lot of other amazing tracks, including: Love My Way; Heartbreak Beat; The Ghost in You; In My Head; Sister Europe; Heaven; All of This & Nothing; All that money wants; Highwire Days; There's a Word - and many others.
A very comprehensive "Best of" to get is the 2-CD PF "Retrospective" set that came out in 1997. Unfortunately, that's currently OOP. I used to have this, but listened to this so much that the CD's got scratched, and I had to get rid of them...

Talk Talk Talk is my favourite album.
You know that I (kinda) know them, right?
Posted by Pittsburghgirl (Member # 7514) on :

Always nagging them to come back over to the UK.
Jealous of ya, Pittsburghgirl! You'll have a blast!
