I have to give credit to Cindy Mancini for this thread...she sent me a message asking if I was aware that Suzi Quatro was Sherilyn Fenn's aunt. Which I had no clue about, but I've always been a fan of them both.. especially Sherilyn Fenn for her performance in "Just One of the Guys", "Thrashin" and "Out of Control". I even liked her small closet role in "The Wild Life"...
So what does this have to do with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts you ask? Well, Joan Jett idolized Suzi Quatro growing up and I thought it was a crazy cool that Suzi was Sherilyn's aunt. So now some of you are going .. who's Suzi Quatro?? She is a legendary music artist that you probably know but don't know you know her. So let me clear it up.. Suzi Quatro is also known as Leather Tuscadero from "Happy Days" fame. Joan Jett admired Suzi Quatro so much that she patterned her look and her early music after her.
Okay..Joan Jett & the Blackhearts rocked the 80's. With tunes like "I Love Rock N' Roll", " Crimson and Clover", and "I Hate Myself For Loving You". I enjoy all of those songs, but my favorite tune on their playlist is "Bad Reputation". Play it loud!!!
Oh...one more thing.. Joan Jett & Lita Ford were members of the band "The Runaways" who's story has been made into a feature movie that premiered last night at the Sundance Film Festival ...anyone planning on going to see it?

i definitely think they rock, and i like the music but i never liked their version of "crimson and clover."

I heard about Sherilyn being related to Suzi Quatro a long time ago, but I've never really known who Suzie was. Sherilyn is one of my favorite actresses not only because of "Just One of the Guys" but also for the TV show "Twin Peaks."
Love Joan Jett too. Have to agree with you Valley that "Bad Reputation" is one of her best. Have you ever seen the show "Freaks and Geeks?" They used that song for their opening sequence.
Can't wait to see "The Runaways" movie!

Veronica..I loved the short lived "Freaks & Geeks" based on high school life in the 80's...kind of like "My So Called Life" it has become a cult classic. The Freaks cast has hit the jackpot in the last few years haven't they.
Another great use of "Bad Reputation" was close to the beginning of "10 Things I Hate About You".
Btw, has the Muffster shared her story about her run in with Andrew Keegan better known as Joey Donner?

from what i read, the runaways movie doesn't really deal with lita ford at all. it's a movie about joan and the lead singer.
i think i appreciate joan more now than i did back in the day.

Valley, I haven't heard Muffy's story about Andrew Keegan!! I've got to hear this. He was the guy all the girls (except me, I was lusting after Clayton Rohner even back then) were in love with when I was in junior high..."Camp Nowhere" was the best movie back then....haha!!

I live in the town "10 Things" was filmed in.......I now live 3 literal blocks away from their house in the movie. Any stalkers please do not pay attention to that last statement.
At the time I was working at Pier 1, and Andrew Keegan and Gabrielle Union came in to shop I knew who he was from 7th Heaven but didn't know her too well.......I rang them up and I acted like I didn't know who he was and asked to see his license with his credit card what a cheesy license photo haha he was really nice. He just bought lots of candles!
10 things did have a good sdtrk and great use of the Joan song.
I like the Runaways and Joan Jett I know Cindy Mancini is a huge fan though.

I missed seeing Joan a few years ago at the Warped tour, would have been nice. Always liked Runaways and Joan Jett, she paved the way for so many other female rock acts. Bad Reputation rocks.

Freaks and Geeks was one of our favorite shows while it lasted. Damn NBC. I am disappointed by the casting of the movie The Runaways- Kristen Stewart, the oh-so-depressed-and-lonely actress as Joan Jett? Give me a break! And Dakota Fanning? What were those producers thinking of. Why couldn't they have cast some lesser known young actresses and given them a break, instead of re-using these two over and over.
