Any fans out there? I have a few of their albums, they seem to be one of those groups that was groundbreaking, but hard to take them seriously if that makes sense. I mean they influenced thrash and death metal, I just wish their production values weren't so god awful. Sounds like sludge on a lot of their tracks. I like some songs like Witching Hour, and I even find them kind of hilarious in a Spinal Tap way. I kind of feel the same about Manowar.

if you don't like the album Black Metal, i'd say you don't like metal at all.

I never have really heard too much of the Death Metal from that era. No Venom, Celtic Frost etc......

Celtic Frost's Morbid Tales is awesome too.

I like Celtic Frost a lot better. I haven't heard Hellhammer yet though. I got into a lot of the early bands because of Metallica listing their influences like Diamondhead, Budgie, etc.

I think I'm one of the few who like Metal, but not necassarily death metal. Venom and Celtic Frost started that genre, but could never like the later bands who had those cookie monster vocals with the corpse paint, etc.
I have to be in the right mood to listen to certian types of metal. I think I always liked punk a lot better, I could relate more to a Descendents album than a Slayer one. Funny, that I don't mind listening to under produced punk but under produced metal bothers me.
