Devolution here,

I knew that Van Halen's 1984 was an album that I had to have when it first came out. Not to mention Huey Lewis and the News's Sports.

What album are you proud to say that you bought the first time around. I know that not everyone was old enough to buy an 80's album so I'll be nice and make it for anytime.

So I can assumer that your school tastes were in metal? Or was that just the crowd/clique you were hanging with? I had an eclectic group of friends. The older kids ahead of me really loved the Cult, a few guys even dressed in those rocker clothes. I was hanging with guys who were into rap and metal, the girls were more into top40/easier listening radio.

And Devo, were there kids in your school aware that the Beasties were a punk/hardcore group before they met Rick Rubin?

For me, I got into metal at about 10 years old. That was the crowd I hung out with. First saw Maiden in concert at 13. I still loved all the 80's pop music as well, but didn't admit it much back then. It wasn't "cool" to the other people I hung around with. 80's metal/rock/pop/glam is mostly what I listen to today. I also like classic rock from the 60's and 70's as well as some oldies. Alot of 90's rock and metal is also very good. As far as today's music, there are a select few I like.

LICENSE TO ILL was HUGE in my school. We had an Art teacher who would let us take turns bringing tapes in every day. As you can imagine when the metalheads brought in metal the people who liked rap were ****ed off and vice versa. One day someobody (was it me, I wonder?) brought in LICENSE TO ILL and the whole class was happy! The teacher used to ask us to bring that one in all the time because it kept peace and harmony in the class!
