I was living in the San Francisco Bay Area during most of the 80's, so I'm biased and going to go with the local band....TRANSLATOR!
And I have their CD of their songs, including "Everywhere That I'm Not".

There's also another song with the same name, "Missing You", written by Lionel Ritchie and sung by Diana Ross. It was a tribute to Marvin Gaye who tragically died a few months before the song came out.
The song came out the same year (1984) as John Waite's did.

Yer it was just StevenHW post that made me think of the song. I suppose this agood song about missing someone, or I suppose someone you will miss when they have gone. Cyndi Lauper:
'Time after time.' It's always good to know that there is someone there if you need them, no matter what, no matter how far away that person may be. It is quite an emotive song which always touches me.

i'm not a big cindy fan, but that song was huge when i went on my 8th grade class trip and all of the girls in my class played that song non stop. so that song brings back memories of that trip for me.

A lot of songs your hear/heard can often bring back memories for people. I think songs can help people remember events brcause people always have songs on in the back ground, and it's that farmilliar sound of a song that can help people to remember events.
