i have very strong convictions about this, and the starship thread gave me the idea. i think the 3 worst songs of the decade are:

god gave rock and roll to you- kiss
we built this city on rock and roll- starship
winds of change- scorpions

as many bad songs as there were, these three always stood out to me as being embarssingly bad.

I like all 3 of those songs. I can never label a song or movie "BAD," because even if I hate it, it might be someone's favorite. Everybody's taste is different. [Wink]

I hate Shakin Stevens. I just hate all of his songs and I don't like Dolly Parton either.

i try to respect everybody's opinion, but i'll say you absolutely have every right to label something you don't like bad. it doesn't make it a fact, like you telling me you like those songs proves that what i said isn't fact. i know more people who agree with you than me. but those songs, in my opinion, give me douche chills they are so bad. they are the ones that always stood out to me.

a few years ago Blender magazine considered We Built This City to be the worst song of all time. Worst might be a little strong but cringeworthy horrible it definitely is.

"A Good Heart" by Feargal Sharkey
"We are the world" by USA for Africa

I agree with many here, but I have to admit that I really like Wang Chung. [Big Grin]

A song that truly makes me want to jump out the window is "Mr. Roboto" by Styx. Hate it, hate it, hate it.

Posted by P.S. It's Paul.... (Member # 1022) on 24 July, 2008 02:01:

From those mentioned, Shout and A Good Heart are both great songs. Wang Chung is OK - certainly not the worst.

Suss-suss-sudio is terrible.

I need to add (for your derison and also for target practice):

Amityville (The House On The Hill) by Lovebug Starski

Posted by NowhereGirl (Member # 465) on 24 July, 2008 07:20:

oh geez, i cannot stand living in a box.

i do, however enjoy mr. roboto [Big Grin] .

It just means you get to choose two new songs you can't stand!

I always thought Sussudio sounded like Phil Collins trying to do a Prince song. It's staggering how huge Phil Collins was around that time.

Devolution here,

I'd like to go back in time and get Prince to not make 1999, and Bruce to forget that he ever wanted to make "Born in the USA".

WE are DEVO

Kinda funny i find the majority of the Stock Aitken & Waterman catalogue waaaay worse than any of the songs mentioned here.

Then again, this thread goes back to 2008.. I'm guessing the world was in a different mindset back then. [Big Grin] [Razz]
