I love this song...it's one I never hear any more, and I really only know it from this concert...which cindymancini knows all about this concert...I love Stevie Nicks...this concert was awesome...my other favorite song she performs from it is "Outside the Rain".
I love stevie Nicks. I love the album Rock a little which I have a copy of. The song Nightmares is brillant. What a singer/song writer she is. Although she had troubled times in the 80's with drugs etc she still managed to pull through it all and get on with her life... her music.
I don't think she ever got over splitting up with Lindsey Buckingham in the 70's- at all, deep down inside. And when she performs with Fleetwood Mac there is still a sence of chemistry between the two on stage.
I have all of her solo albums. Street Angel is good to, an album you can stick on and not skip one single song. I bet that concert was great. I saw her in the UK when Fleetwood Mac toured. I actually got to meet Stevie this past April. It was unplanned. I went to a concert of hers in Reading, PA. As I was leaving with my one girlfriend, we found ourselves in this corridor hallway area and as we were trying to find the exit so we could get to our car, I saw Stevie's one band member, Carlos, walking toward me. I stopped, called out to my friend to come back near me and within like 10 seconds Stevie and her guitarist, Waddy Watchel, were walking together toward me. I really almost died!
I am a HUGE Stevie fan. Seriously, she is the end all be all for me. Her lyrics are unlike anything else and the little worlds she creates with her music and personality are truly enchanting and magical!
Needless to say, my friend called out to her and she looked right at us. I said, "Stevie, can we please just talk to you for one minute?" And she started smiling and said, "Sure, absolutely" and came right over to us. I felt like I was in a dream sequence, everything began moving in slow motion. I was like this is NOT HAPPENING! The lady who sings "Rhiannon" is walking toward me to talk!!!
Stevie came over and we introduced ourselves and immediately began thanking her for being so gracious to give us the time of day. We of course each took our turn telling her how much her work has meant to us and how it has been there throughout the many phases of our lives. She seemed genuinely touched and held one of each of our hands so that we were all linked as we were talking. It was insane and true Stevie style. Some parts are a blur cause it was so unreal. She gave us hugs and told us how glad she was to meet us. I remember hugging her and seeing her blond hair resting on my arm. I also remember feeling the black crushed velvet of her dress. I was star struck. Truly. I have met alot of celebrities and musicians in my day but this was an entirely different level.
As we left, we thanked her again and again. She was so cool about it and I think she got a kick out of us. She had to catch a flight out of Reading that night and so we wrapped it up. She told us to take care and then as she started to walk away, smiling, she said, "Next time...next time..." and waved. It was amazing ! It was beyond anything I could have ever hoped for in terms of coming face to face with my favorite artist.
I will tell you that Miss Nicks is looking absolutely beautiful and healthy. She does not look like a woman who is 60. She looks 40, if that. Her face is flawless. If she has had work done, it was good work, not scary mannequin work. Her hair was gorgeous and she was sooooo tiny! She is really short and just beautiful.
It was a "charmed hour" indeed.

Oh Isis, sorry I went off on a tangent here..."Gold and Braid" is a great song. Her performance of it from the concert you are speaking about is filled with so much energy and emotion! I love it!
"Outside the Rain" is definitely up there in my top 10 favorite Stevie songs. I like the obscure stuff though...I have gotten a hold of alot of unreleased material and demos and there are some incredible songs that I wonder if they'll ever see the light of day.

Been a big SN and FM fan for a while. In fact was blasting stuff like Stand Back, Seven Wonders and Room on Fire on the weekend. She has a unique voice, loved those flowing dresses too.
Believe it or not, Stevie confessed that the love of her life was not Lindsey Buckingham, but Joe Walsh! I guess it was the early 80's when both were dealing with serious substance abuse issues so it didn't help their chances for the relationship to survive.

Yes, you are so right with that Riptide. I remember reading that and thinking...Joe Walsh?!?! The dude who sings "Waffle Stomp" on the Fast Times At Ridgemont High soundtrack...lol! Granted, I know he was part of the Eagles but still...that's just how I think of him.

Stevie's great as well as The Mac. Lindsey Buckingham is such an under-rated guitarist. This performance of Big Love blows me away everytime I watch it:
Yer I agree about that 80's Rocked he really can play. The Dance concert Vid is brillant and the song Go Insane is equally as well played. I could never understand why he isnt as reconised as other guitarists because he has a brillant classical stlye.
Stand back is a brillant song, I think that song was inspired by a Prince song. She was listening to one of his songs on the radio which I think was 'I would Die For You.' Apparenlty he visited her one time while she was making the song and aroganntly played a few bars of his song, then played a few bars of her song and afterwards simply walked out of the studio???

You are correct with "The Dance" concert. I remember the first time I saw it on PPV some years back. I've been meaning to get it on DVD, but something comes up and I forget. It's on the list with many others.

I have it and it is great to watch. I have the DVD Live in Boston as well which is good. It is missing Christine MC Vie tho. But she left the group didn't she?

correct. she invited prince down to the studio to hear the song, and after listening to it, he added the 16 beat to it. the same beat is in 'i would die for you.' then he pretty much 'disappeared out of her life' (as she put it).
i own the dance concert dvd. that show was amazing! i love the acoustic version they do of 'say you love me' (is that the name?) and the silver springs performance is definitely one to remember.

...stevie is a terrific singer/song writer! i was at a fleetwood mac concert back in the early 00's... 6th row center! it was amazing. she's totally mezmorizing. i remember, somewhere in the middle of the concert, i asked out loud.."when is she going to twirl!!??" and some girls behind me who had apparently been following her on tour, said "oh trust me, you're going to see some twirling!" just after that, mick fleetwood came out and did a drum solo...suddenly the song turned into STAND BACK and she came out of the dark, twirling and spinning! the crowd went wild!

i'm not too sure she actually 'left' the group. from what i read, she 'opted' not to be a part of that particular tour.

Yer thats it nowhereGirl. He walked out out of her life. Christ I wish my memory was as good as yours. I love that song Silver Springs, those lyrics you posted really hit home. They hit hard everytime I hear that song because they are so powerful and haunting.
Yer they do an acostic version of 'Say you love me' with John Mcvie singing (for the first time ever).

I am a bass player really, so when anyone finger picks I hink it is ace. He is under rated as a guitarist. I really dig his style and what a smooth player he is.
I love the edge of 17. I think some of the lryics in that song are significant to her uncles death.
