Growing up in Canada one cool thing was we had some great artists in our backyard who reached international success like Bryan Adams, Celine, even Corey Hart, but there were a lot of other gems we listened to that you don't hear anymore. A few examples:

All good choices Riptide and most of them I have never heard before. It’s always nice to discover or rediscover new old songs.
‘Let it Go’ by Luba I already knew from the 9 ˝ weeks soundtrack. The other one ‘The Best Is Yet to Come’ is also worth listening to.
Rational Youth is also a band I’m quite familiar with. I never knew they were Canadian though. I also like: ‘City of Night’ and ‘Coboloid Race’.
Platinum Blonde have a great sound. It’s my favorite thus far. The music reminds me more of The Church than Duran Duran though. Maybe that is because of the guitar sound in ‘It Doesn’t Really Matter’. I liked it very much. I’m not sure about the singers voice yet. Nevertheless, I feel like I need to explore this band a little further. I feel the same about Parachute Club. Another band I wanna find out more about. Thanks..

I never saw any of those before. Pretty good stuff. Skid Row's Sebastian Bach is Canadian. He was actually born in the Bahamas, but raised in Ontario. Amazing voice:
WOW! I have never heard of these bands. There was a whole different scene in Canada during the 80s. I never knew about it. Did you get the US version of Mtv and the Canadian version?

We didn't get MTV in Canada, we had a similar channel called Muchmusic. The playlist was similar to the US, but we had local stuff as well. The most popular bands were the aforementioned Platinum Blonde, Loverboy, Honeymoon Suite, Glass Tiger, Spoons, the Box, etc.
Hands down one of the greatest canadian 80's videos by one the best band. The u2-like guitar intro still gives me chills. IMO they never did anything better than this although they had a lot more hits.

Martha & The Muffins April Wine (one of the longest-running currently-existing Canadian groups ever) Red Rider The Nylons The Arrows Bachman-Turner Overdrive (which reunited in 1983) Cats Can Fly Parachute Club National Velvet (Goth-rock band from Toronto) Men Without Hats (remember their "Safety Dance" song?)

Payolas-the duo included Bob Rock! Blue Rodeo Saga Toronto Blue Peter Skinny Puppy-they basically set the template for Nine Inch Nails.
What does everyone think of this one hit wonder canadian video? Is it a classic or a fashion crime? Or both? I saw it years ago and find it's hilarious to look at now, but fun to say the least.
