Last wednesday I finally got to see the Cure, been a fan for ages. They played like 35 songs with three encores, and the crowd still wanted more. A great band.

Hey Riptide, that's cool!
I went to see them last March and it was amazing! Incredible how Roberts Smith's voice still pretty much sounds the same as it did 30 years ago. After all, the man must already be fifty-something or so. Same here BTW: 3 encores and a crowd that couldn't get enough. The only thing I felt was a little dissappointing was the lack of synths and that they didn't play Fascination Street. I really missed those synthesizers in 'Lullaby'. But hey, you can't have everything, right? Still, it was one of the best concerts I've seen in years. I'm looking forward to their new album which should come out in September (I think).

I noticed too there was no keyboards which is srange seeing as it was so prominent on some of the songs they played like Just like heaven, in between days and the Walk. It sounded different that's for sure. I just hope the new album is good, hasn't been a real good album from them since 92's Wish.

I've liked some recent Cure songs like Cut Here, and I absolutely loved Burn from the Crow soundtrack. They have so many good songs and b-sides. They could have played like 50 songs if they wanted to satisfy everyone and their favorite Cure eras.

Adore the Cure,always have.love the disintegration cd the most.was lucky enough to catch them on tour a while back also and they just played for hours.truly a fantastic gig. I saw them at William & Mary for the '92 Wish Tour, and then I saw them at The Gorge (Washington State) for the Wild Mood Swings tour. I also saw Depeche Mode at the same venue. They put on a great show!

i saw them in '89 at some outdoor theater in Mass when i was visiting some friends of mine in college in rhode island. they are tied with bauhaus and joy division as my 2nd all time favorite band(up to and including disintegartion). the smiths are #1.

As far as favorite bands go, we have similar rankings. Did you hear the new Bauhaus album? Not too bad, just sorry they broke up (again)and won't be touring for the album, I saw them in 05 and they were really good.

i have it on my computer at home but i haven't listened to it yet. i'm torn with this. although the smiths are my favorite band, bauhaus is real close to being #1. i love this band and everything they've put out. so i'm kind of nervous with this album because i have such high standards for bauhaus that i don't want to be disappointed.
and i'm a true loser because i never saw them on any of their reunion tours. one of my big regrets in life.

The Smiths are my #1 band too. Speaking of Bauhaus, I got to see Peter Murphy live at the Boathouse (now gone) in Norfolk, VA back in June of '92. That was one hell of a concert.

I love Bauhaus. Peter did an unforgettable version of "Bela Lugosi's Dead" with Trent Reznor at the show we saw them at in 2005........

Riptide and everyone, I got to see The Cure in Chicago and they did not disappoint. My trip to Chicago was the ultimate...an afternoon with the Cubbies and a night with The Cure. They didn't play 'A Letter to Elise' or one of my other favs 'But Not Tonight' from the movie "Modern Girls"....however they did play a wide variety of tunes and I'm serious when I say that every song was incredible.
I'll ramble what I remember:
Plainsong A Night Like This The Walk The End of the World Love Song Pictures of You Lullaby Sleep When I'm Dead Friday I'm in Love Inbetween Days Just Like Heaven Never Enough If only tonight we could sleep The Kiss The Lovecats Close to Me Why can't I be you? Boys Don't Cry 10.15 Saturday Night plus several more that I can't remember right now.

Those are pretty much the same songs they did here. No Fascination Street in Chicago either huh? Too bad, it's my all time favorite. Still, it was an unforgettable evening.
P.S. 'But Not Tonight' isn't that D-Mode
I read somewhere that they actually didn't like the song, despite being hailed amongst fans. I also think it's a great song though..

But not tonight is Depeche Mode, and I happen to love the movie Starter for 10. It has a ton of all of these songs, especially the Cure.

Yeah, they didn't play "But Not Tonight" 'cause they never sang it. That is a good song.."Oh God, it's raining, but I'm not complaining..." Yeah, very good album in fact.

TKO, I guess you hadn't heard yet, Depeche Mode hated "But Not Tonight" so much that they gave it to The Cure. wow, thanks guys, I totally knew that, but not tonight for some reason. OK, I'm heading back to the movie section which I obviously know more about.

i think from what i remember is that Depeche Mode hated playing the song "people are people".
i still regularly play black celebration and music for the masses.
and that cure setlist looks good. i saw them live on tv a few months ago on HDNet and the only thing that bummed me out what that i think robert smith is the only "original", or at least 80's era, guy left.

correct valley. they vowed not to play but not tonight because of the modern girls movie.. they hated the movie and were upset that they were asked to change the song to an A side instead of a B side single.. something to that effect.
i don't remember them not wanting to play people are people?
