OK - time for a new series of articles for you to discuss and disagree with......
Based purely on US album sales figures I'm going to count down the top 20 albums of the decade. I'll try and get a new post every couple of days.
Starting us of at #20, with sales of 9,600,000 is Top Gun - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Track listing:
Danger Zone - Kenny Loggins
Mighty Wings - Cheap Trick
Playing With The Boys - Kenny Loggins
Lead Me On - Teena Marie
Take My Breath Away - Berlin
Hot Summer Nights - Miami Sound Machine
Heaven In Your Eyes - Loverboy
Through The Fire - Larry Greene
Destination Unknown - Marietta
Top Gun Anthem - Harold Faltermayer & Steve Stevens
One of the best selling soundtracks of all time, Top Gun remains an essential collection of 80s pop. The movie made a star of Tom Cruise, and boosted the careers of other actors such as Val Kilmer, Meg Ryan and Kelly McGillis. Two songs dominate the album - 'Take My Breath Away', and 'Danger Zone' - both co-written by the iconic Giorgio Moroder.
The album hit the top of the US album chart, and the single by Berlin topped the chart in the US and the UK. It also won an Oscar for Best Song.

I always liked Danger Zone. Didn't know Heaven in Your Eyes was from Top Gun, though. I learned something new!

Devolution here,
Good movie, ok soundtrack. I happen to have the book of the top 100 80's albums, so I am going to join you, ok Paul?
Danger Zone and Take My Breath Away were the only things that anyone bought the album for.
Unless you are a need for speed, you need to save money by not buying this.
Album : 3 for me, but a 5 if you are a junkie for the movie Need to buy: Find the good songs somewhere else, unless you happen to just really love Teena Marie. Save the $$$
