Aw gosh. I always just loved Jani Lane!! Voice-wise, I liked Sebastian Bach, Tom Keifer, Phil Lewis, and Geoff Tate. I also liked Danger Danger and Dangerous Toys lead singers voices. Anybody remember their names?
Posted by Nice Guy Sammy_Hain (Member # 3150) on :
Dangerous Toys lead screamer was Jason McMaster.
I've always liked
Jamie St. James--Black N Blue/Warrant Jani Lane--Warrant ****y Pearl--Love/Hate & Ratt Bret Michaels--Poison
along with many that you mentioned but the best by far in my opinion would be
Geoff Tate--Queensryche
oh and the guy from Firehouse whatever his name is
OK I found it, Firehouse's lead singer is CJ Snare

How could I have forgotten Neil and Tramp?
Reason I omitted D1ck1nson was because I never considered Maiden to be a hair metal band.

I was always impressed by Mark Slaughters voice. I remember hearing something about him regarding how many octaves that guy can hit and it was WAY out of a normal males range.

I prefer Slaughter in the Vinnie Vincent Invasion
The singer in Steelheart could really hit the high notes too.

Wow. You just listed everybody I would have.
But I should say, if the criteria is favorite not necessarily by vocal prowess but rather overall showmanship/vocal flare, etc. then I'd probably have to go with Axl Rose. He wasn't the greatest singer technically speaking, but he had the stage presence and personality. Or if you count Van Halen as hair metal, then also David Lee Roth. Again nothing nothing to write home about on a technical level, but just exciting as hell to watch do his thing and rock star personality galore.

not hair metal or even metal for that matter but I've always liked both
Robert Plant Roger Daltrey

I'd throw Steve Tyler in that mix as well.

I would have to say Sebastian Bach. I saw him live last summer and was most impressed with his range. Isn't he classically trained?

Vince Neil and Brett Michaels..... even if they're both giant douchebags today

I never really liked Vince Neil's voice. He's even with Stephen Pearcy (Ratt) for me. It's high and pitchy. IMHO... I really like motley Crew though... No flame wars now...
