Okay lets try some songs of the day. Every day when I get up I listen to the 80s channel from my cable company. I love this song from 1988. According to the TV it went to number 5 on the charts. The group was formed by husband and wife team George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam. I actually purchased the album that this song was on and I loved the songs on it. I can't remember if it was available on CD or if I had it on Tape, must have been tape.
Anyway, when they made the video for the song, George had long hair. The updated picture of him now shows that he has short hair and a beard. He doesn't look anything like I remember. Shannon looks the same just shorter hair. I remember recording this one off of the radio.
Does anyone else have any memories of this song? ;)

Is this the song from three men and a baby???? If so, this song always makes me think of three men and a baby, and being a kid listening to my Hits 88 tape, coz it was on there, as was girlfriend by Pebbles, which Isis talked about on a different thread.

I have huge memories of this song. I had the cassette single of it, remember those??? Darn!! I use to play it every night on my way to work, cause I worked the night shift then, and had to drive 1/2 an hour to work, and I replayed that song a billion times. I also have it on a 45 record in my jukebox, and it is still one of my favorites.....
Someone could post those lyrics...they are way cool...

Isis wanted the lyrics, but now all of you can read them! Here it is...
"WAITING FOR A STAR TO FALL" By Boy Meets Girl Written by: George Merrill & Shannon Rubicam
[Trivia: Merril and Rubicam were husband-wife (they have since divorced) who first met after they were hired to perform singing songs at another person's wedding. They later both wrote the songs "How Will I Know?" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)", which were both big hit singles for Whitney Houston.]
The lyrics:
I hear your name whispered on the wind It's a sound that makes me cry I hear a song blow again and again Through my mind and I don't know why I wish I didn't feel so strong about you Like happiness and love revolve around you
Trying to catch your heart Is like trying to catch a star So many people love you baby That must be what you are
Waiting for a star to fall And carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms baby, yeah
I've learned to feel what I cannot see But with you I lose that vision I don't know how to dream your dream So I'm all caught up in superstition I want to reach out and pull you to me Who says I should let a wild one go free
Trying to catch your heart Is like trying to catch a star But I can't love you this much baby And love you from this far
Waiting for a star to fall And carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms baby, yeah
Waiting (however long...) I don't like waiting (I'll wait for you...) It's so hard waiting (don't be too long...) Seems like waiting (makes me love you even more...)
Waiting for a star to fall And carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms baby, yeah

They also co-wrote the ballad "Simply Meant To Be" with Henry Mancini for the 1987 comedy "Blind Date".
Love the song...I actually prefer "Bring Down The Moon", though.
Sincerely,

I loved Bring Down the Moon, it was on the album that I had of theirs. I also loved a song I think it was called Run to You.
I think that they are popular song writers. I want to say that they wrote a Whitney Houston song, I may be wrong on that artist, but that is originally what they did.
Does anyone remember or know any other songs that they may have written.

I LOVE the song Bring down the Moon!!! I have it somewhere too, I totally forgot all about it. Thanks for reminding me of it. Maybe I can find it, if not I am going to try and get it somewhere.
I see a theme with Boy Meets Girl...Star to Fall, Bringing down the Moon.....they have kind of an Lunar type theme happening.
