Yep, the remake is not all evil people, looks like it could be part-responsible for a new Blu-Ray / Special Edition release to coincide with its release.
From Ralph Macchio's Twitter:

awesome, exactly what ive been waiting for. With this and Back to the Future, i think 2010 is going to be a good year for HD 80s flicks

The remake has a release date in June 2010, so the blu ray will probably come out around that same time...Can't wait!

Does anyone have a brand new copy for $9.99 they can part with?

Okay.. I've watched this movie numerous times and something always bothered me about the scene at the beach with Ali_with_an_i and Daniel. Suddenly, like out of nowhere .. Ali says "watch this.." and does a bazooka kick toward the ocean with that soccer ball. What??
Did she see Johnny coming or something?
btw.. the picture is great on the blu-ray, but I'm more impressed by the improved sound.

Btw, any one who has the Blu-ray...is there anything interesting or of any significance on the Blu-Pop feature?
Or is just the usual stuff all us die-hards know??
