I caught a segment on A&E with Phillip McKeon (Tommy on Alice) where he talked about auditioning for the role of Johnny in KK1. He wanted the part really bad so he took karate lessons for months and worked out every day. They even showed a clip of an audtion with him fighting against either Macchio or a look alike. Ultimately he said producers passed him because of his height. At 6'6 they thought the fight scenes looked awkward. In the clips his kicks whizzed right over "Daniel's" head.

really? that's cool, i never heard that. and i agree that the fight scenes would most definately look odd if they had used him.

I wonder how different the movie would been with McKeon playing Johny instead of Zabka.
