I don't think he is dead, but I don't know for a fact. I did see him on a tv show or something a couple months ago. I think it might of been that Jamie Kennedy show where it's like a candid camera thing, and Mr. Miyagi went to people's houses in a limo and asked people if he could use their bathroom. It was pretty funny, but he was really old.

I have to agree with koego here. I think Mr. Miyagi is now a very old man but not that much older when he made his Karate Kid movies. Just a minute ago I subtracted the year that he was born up until this new year, and this year he will turn 71. So, no I don't think he's dead.

Are we talking Miyagi the character or Pat Morita??

If Pat, he's most definitely alive and well, popping up here and there. Had a great Directv ad running a few months ago. Still milks his Miyagi persona a lot (a character I'm glad to see milked).

Pat was born on June 28, 1932, so he's only 70. Plenty of good years left I would think. Plenty on Pat at the IMDB: http://us.imdb.com/Name?Morita,+Pat

I know this is a weird question, but how does he talk in real life (accent-wise), cos he was born in america in real life wasn't he? I've never seen him on anything other than karate kid

he actually has an american accent

John, rent a movie called "Savanah Smiles". It's from the 80s, and Pat has a small part in it as a minister. Speaks with his normal American accent.

And I wanna say he spoke normally in "Honeymoon in Vegas", the Nic Cage movie of 1992, but not sure if he did.
