Yeah I know what you mean. I got the Australian set for $20 so I'm not too bummed, but it would have been nice to see some interviews or something from the main characters.

Keep in mind that not all older films have lots of "Special Features" stuff like alternate endings, outtakes, deleted scenes, etc. Karate Kid movies came out before anybody even thought of the DVD format. My guess is that the studio or director probably threw them away in the trash shortly after the movie was released.
So, if there was ever a "behind the scenes" featurette, it might've gotten made, but I guess it didn't.
Maybe it would have been a good idea to have a special interview of all the stars in the original movie as a retrospective. And the stars would talk about their experiences when they made the movie, or how it affected their career, etc.

stand by me is an old film made in the 80s before dvds and i thought the dvd was great. it had interviews, commentary and music video. so i think the karate kid dvd could av ad the peter cetara 'glory of love' vid and stuff like that. *_*

There were some deleted scenes from KK that still exist today. Why they weren't used in the DVD I don't know. They could have least used recent interviews with the cast and crew asking them for fond memories and such about the film. Don't you think? I emailed the studio that released the KK DVD awhile back. I told them that a lot of people hoped fora better DVD and would like maybe a special limited edition that had more extras. To this day I have not recieved an answer, but I heard that they feel not enough people would be interested in this therefor not enough money to be made for them. Oh well.... :)

It's weird how they'll come back a few years later and do something. I rented the Gremlins DVD a couple of years ago and it was the definition of "bare bones". Promised behind the scenes stuff...and all it is is still photos with little captions! PHttttt!
So two nights ago I'm browsing thru the DVDs at my video store, and there's a Gremlins SE with commentary from like eight people involved in the film, plus a featurette, plus a few trailers. So we might get lucky and Sony will come back maybe for the 20 year anniv. and redo KK like they should.

thats wud be great but i think they need to realise that a lot of people are interested and would buy it if they re-released it *_*

You can go to Sony's website and find contact info there. Then just email them letting them know how you feel about a new and improved KK DVD. Don't forget to mention this website, there are millions of 80s fans who read These postings and page reviews. Let them know there is a huge following that would like to see this happen. :)

Guys, Guys, Guys I purchased the Karate Kid box set for a laugh. But to my amazement their are people out there who take the film seriously. Remember the wise words of Mr Miyagi " He who pays good money for Box Set has crazy blood"
