here's a poser for you all (sorry if you have mentioned it b4). who do you think would hav won if mike Barnes had met Johnny the creampuff in the tournament. Both were very tough competitors. In my opinion Johnny has more skill but barnes had more power. Now THAT would have been a good match to watch...wot was YOUR opinion? barnes or lawrence???

i think barnes cos he didnt really follow orders and rules he was wild so he seemed more tough. *_*

I agree with Karatebabe....Barnes would've probably won because he's crazy and definitely believed in that "No Mercy" crap. Plus Barnes makes a much better enemy because he's scarier. Johnny is like a preppy bully, whereas Barnes is a psychotic maniac. So, Barnes would, without a doubt, win.

I say Barnes too, as had already been pointed out in another discussion, Johnny was at a disadvantage against any opponent because of his fringe flapping in his eyes. Barnes's short back and sides gives him the edge every time.
But enough of these namby pamby kids where do people rate the real men of the series. In what order do people rate Miyagi, Kreese, Colonel Duggan (KK4 you heathens), Terry Silver and Sato?

I vote barnes too.

i'd have to go with johnny on this one..i dont think barnes could outpower him..johnny is much more musculer.. barnes is wield yes..but did you see what johnny did to the chinese guy in the semi finals..and he was going by the rules.. if it was a streetfight..id still say johnny cause i think he would tackle him to the ground and b**ch slap him around
but both guys are cobra kai..so i guess they would be friends
Posted by Venice (Member # 555) on :
Iiii don't see Johnny or Mike being friends. They may be in the same Cobra Kai, but people like that are only "friends" with those who make them look good and don't one-up them in any way. Mike and Johnny would probably act stupid & kill each other trying to prove who was the "bigger 'man'"

That Chinese guy in the semi's ruled!! he would have won in real life! lol

A tournament between Johnny Lawrence and Mike Barnes? I've often thought of that myself, and I would have to say Johnny- reason being is that Mike Barnes was really immature- (he hit a girl, and only wimps do that) also his karate was more like boxing, he had very little style or variety with his karate, which Johnny had plenty of. So, in my opinion, a very good fight sequence with Johnny ultimately winning in the end.

I'm just gonna throw KK3 on for old times sake..
We don't really see much Karate from Mike Barnes in my opinion.. I'ma go with Johnny. Although I think both Chozen, and the asian guy from the semi's in KK1, could take Johnny & Mike.

Barnes here, too. Good skills, and more of a killer instinct.
You didn't see Barnes congratulate Daniel after their match, did you? heh heh
Posted by Slater (Member # 502) on :
A Barnes vs Lawrence fight would be the biggest fight since Ali vs Foreman.
I would have to go with Barnes in such a contest. He has more power than Lawrence and more of a killer instinct. Also Daniel is in all sorts of trouble against Barnes and only wins by "tricking" Barnes with that kata that Miyagi taught him.
Does anyone have any thoughts on who would win in a Kreese vs Silver. We know from the start of KK3 that Silver telegraphs his roundhouse, however Kreese is not in the best of physical or mental health after seeing his dojo go under and lounging around on a beach in Tahiti.
I think it would be close and I think Kreese would just win (having taight Silver everything he knows he has the edge.) But what do you think?
Posted by celticbabe (Member # 664) on :
Well...I guess Miyagi would be the one who would "win" in a tournament against Barnes- after all, he fought all the Cobra Kai students (Johnny, Bobby, Dutch, Billy..etc.), Terry Silver, John Kreese And Mike Barnes...and kicked all their asses!

In these "tournaments," the rules weren't really enforced. If they were, those bad guys, especially Barnes, would have been disqualified way before it got to a finale. Barnes was definitely a more dirty fighter so he would have won without the rules being enforced, but Johnny might have if they were. In real life, Barnes is a black belt while Lawrence is not. Daniel did get in some good licks with Barnes but he kept getting hurt with all sorts of illegal blows. How about Miyagi vs. Sato? They both had the same teacher, Miyagi's father, plus Sato was much bigger. Somehow, though, I think Miyagi would have prevailed since he was the real son of the master.
By the way, in real life, do you think these bullies would have gotten away with what they did, no police being called, etc. Those 5 Cobra Kai almost killed Daniel and no for no good reason (that water must have really hurt Johnny) and nobody called the police. C'mon!

Johnny all the way. He had bigger muscles which gave his superior fighting skills even more power. I would love to see him kicking the crap out of Mike Barnes! Plus he was a babe!!
Posted by karate babe (Member # 879) on :
mike barns vs johnny would av been a great fight but i think barns would have won by far cos he had no restraint and didnt seem to care about anyting but winning, where as johnny knew right from wrong..even if it was right at the end. *_*

I agree with Holly all the way..

Karatekidcan,
It would have been Daniel's decision to call the Police and attempt to press charges. The Cobra Kai students were so wealthy they most likely would have gotten off with a slap on the wrist anyway- their parents could afford top notch attorneys, plus the Police Dept. also might have been in their parents' pockets as well. I think calling the Police actually would have made things worse for Daniel. The grudge would have never stopped between Daniel and Cobra Kai- the solution was definitely the tournament show down. Mr. Miyagi gave Daniel more than what any police officers could do for him.

mike does not look powerful..look at the size of his arms when he is in the black cobra kai gi at the end..they look like twigs not like johnny was huge, but he had a lil more meat then mike. they are both very aggressive, so i think it would be fairly close
someone said b4 about mike having more of a boxing style, thats actually a really good thing cause boxing, although not a real "martial art" is the best art for developing punching and punching power, plus with boxing training, it requiers alot of sparring, so you get used to taking punishment, karate tournaments they put in so many rules it hardly resembles a real fight ..so its basicly..whoever can tap their opponent the fastest and get away with it will win

I will totally back Johnny kicking barnes' ass anyday... 1. Johnny's kik when "yor the best" comes on in the tournament scene, where her grabs that dudes hand kiks him then hooks his leg over and kiks him again... what a move. 2. The way johnny messes with danny on the beach and gives him that amazing kik to dannys mid section... class 3 Johnny emailed me and sed "remember Never Surrender & No Mercy" which i found hilarious.
Also, did you know barnes now has a career in gay porn.

I have been taking karate since I was 7 (about 16 years now). Everytime I watch a martial arts movie I wonder who would win against another fighter in some other movie, or who I would fear fighting the most. So here's my opinion.
In a real martial arts fight (non-tournament)you'll notice that the fight style changes after no more than 20 minutes. There starts to be a lot more holding, almost more wrestling. So if the karate skills are even close between the 2 fighters and the fight goes beyond 20 min, strength and wrestling skills come into play. Danny's karate skills were not sufficiently better than Johnny's or Mike's, so the fight would have become more realted to strength and either would ultimately have beat him a real fight.
Now for Johnny vs Mike - fighters like Mike are extremely aggressive. They come out throwing an immediate fury of powerful punches and kicks, hoping to make contact for a quick knock down or out, or just intimidate you to throw you off. They can't fight long because the style is exhausting. If you can keep them going for about 20 minutes, then the fight turns more to a normal speed where skill is the first key followed within minutes by strength. Keep in mind that by then the aggressive fighter has weakened themself. As a result, I think Johnny would win. He had similar karate skills, similar physical strength, but he was a better paced and disciplined fighter.
He's the one I wouldn't want to fight. Anyway, that's my opinion

Who do you guys think would've won between Kreese and Chozen?
Posted by Knock Out Boy (Member # 307) on :
in a real fight, 9 times out of 10 you will end up in some sort of clintch, strength plays a big roll, but if you have the right leverage you wont need to be physicly stronger to finish a fight or tecnique.
in the movies, kicks and punches are usually more glamorized then fighting in close or on the ground, and in the karate tournaments its obviously not allowed because of the rules.
so seeing as how they both have very little ground skills, johnny is physicly larger then mike, so if it ends up in a clintch, id have to go with johnny
for the KK tournament style..they are both "dirty fighters" for point karate tournaments that is..so whoever gets the most fouls will lose

who do u think would win..out of.. ali or komiko? *_*

the "slugger" Ali!
a girl who punches!...what a concept

Thanks Karate Kevin and Knock Out Boy for your insight.
So Karate Kevin - if someone small is fighting a larger person with equal fighting skills and has to take him out before 20 minutes, what can he do to have the biggest impact before time is up?
Posted by Karate Forever (Member # 291) on :
Well Kyle I would suggest 2 things. First go for the face, especially the nose and eyes. The nose bleeds quite a bit which can be really distracting during a fight and have tremendous physcological impact. Hitting the eyes can put off the other fighters coordination, aim, and timing. Second, as bad as this sounds, go for the balls. I say that emphasizing that your physical safety or life is in danger. I once saw a 5'7" kid make a hit to the balls of a 6'8" thin but muscular basketball player during a street fight. He just stood there groaning and holding himself while the little kid just walked over and punched and kicked him like a punching bag until the giant fell over. And yes, it was over in just under 20 minutes.
Those are my suggestions.

first look at your advantages and his advantages, if he is bigger then you, most likely he is stronger then you..not always, but either way he has a weight advantage.
then look at your advantages, if you are smaller..there is a good chance you are faster, and "probably" have more endurance..dont assume obviously, just prepare for the worst case senairo.
every person is gonna fight different, so you have to find your advantages through regular training, so they become second nature.

Well. I cant give a real good reason, but I would say Johnny.
But to be honest I think Bobby would take either of them.
I know in real life he is the only true black belt, But just watching him in the film, you can tell he has most skill, like that rad leg sweep he did on that guy at beginin of tourney, or that scissor take down. or that jumpin spin kick when that guy was holding his leg.
But still, gota hand it to zabka (johnny) for no martial arts training either from during fliming of movie, he was pretty good.
