In the scene when Daniel and Myagi go to the Karate Dojo, Johnny has a black eye and i don't understand how he got it. If you watch the scene where Myagi comes to Daniel's rescue after the Halloween dance, you'll see that Myagi never hits Johnny in the face, so how does he get the black eye???

Johnny picks up his black eye from Ali after he tries to eat her face off at the swanky dinner she goes to with her parents. We don't actually see the punch in question by one of Ali's friends tells Daniel about it down at the arcade.
Perhaps Miyagi should have entered Ali into the All Valley.

I'm sorry, but you aren't correct about where Jonny got his black eye. The Country Club scene where Ali punches him for kissing her is long after the scence where they go to Creese's Dojo and see Jonny's black eye. I'm sure he wouldn't have really gotten a black eye from that fight, it was just easier for the audience to see that they got their butts kicked my Miyagi with Jonny having a black eye rather than bruised ribs or something. Sorry to correct you with my first post, but I just started visiting the message board.

There's a movie term for that kind of thing, but I can't remember it right now. Has to do with backing up a previous scene with confirmation visually for the audience that something took place. Damn, what is the word??
