Has anyone seen Karate Kid 4. No one seems to mention it much. I know its a real shambles of a mess, but we can't pretend it never happened. Am I the only person to have seen it?

ive seen it but i didnt like it as ralph macchio was not in it and i dont see how you can make a karate kid film with out daniel san??? the karate kid 4 is an ok film but they shouldnt have attempted to make it a sequal to the ever so grate karate kid 1,2&3. *_*

Not only is Ralph not in the film he gets only one passing mention, its like he's been erased. Miyagi talks like he hasn't heard from him in 20 years, so I'd love to know the reason behind that.
Karate Kid 4 is a mess but I kind of like it anyway, it is has many bizarre plot twists, the hawk, the buddhist temple, the bungee jumping.... and the whole idea of the Alpha League fantastic!
It can't have been too bad an idea for a film because the Buffy series seems to use pretty much the same set up.... except for the demons.
If only Part 4 had been made in the 80s and I'm sure it would have turned out alright.

\karate kid 4 is an absolute shambles of a film that degrades the whole series. Pat Morita must have either bumped his head or had to feed a very expensive drug habit to agree to making such a poor excuse for a film. I think it has much to do with the poor script and plot outline and have to disagree with william. There is a fine line in the progression of a story to make it exciting and engaging and not to allow it to descend into some fantasy world. The final fight sequence is the most laughable and I was not for one instance convinced that the character could beat up the most of the members of the Alpha league. Best thing about the film are the numerous shots of Hilary Swank's ass. If you haven't seen this film save your time and money and watch something less boring intsead.

I think it was interesting. Daniel does get a brief mention; in it, Daniel's grown & out on his own. I say he moved back to Newark. Probably he sees Mr. Miyagi once in a while.

Does nobody think that karate kid 3 was also a great film and deserves to have its own section on this website dedicated to it?I for one think its a shame this movie ahs been neglected so far.

I agree KK3 is the best film in the series. It has everything. Jokes, action, Kreese, great villians in Terry Silver & Mike "Bad Boy" Barnes and even Glen Medeiros aswell.
Don't listen to Yazdanid watch KK4. It has many excellent scenes. Michael Ironside is great and so is the music. Admitedly the plot could do with a little tinkering but we should all just be grateful that they made another film in the series.
I can only think that Yazdanid has some unhealthy fixation with Ralph Macchio and is bitter that he didn't get a part in the film. I bet he sits at home alone all day listening to "You're the best" over and over again. Sad.

slater, lets put this in perspective. the sun is in the sky, go 4 a walk, play some football, see a freind..but u should really get out of the house and leave the TV. All that beating your meat to Hilary Swank has obviosly clouded your vision and impaired your decision making abilities. KK4 is a stinker and everyone knows it.

But her surname is so suggestive....

How can anyone mention the 3rd installment of the series. The sexual tension between Miyagi and Daniel-San was suffocating.
Posted by karate babe (Member # 879) on :
how can u say that? thats soooooo not true:(

i think Karate kid 4 is a biiig mistake. it is really bad.a karate kid without daniel san?no thanx.

that movie didnt deserve karate kid in the title... it was hurtin..

Agreed!!
That movie is like makin a parody of the Karate Kid movies, like the one Charlie Sheen made about Rambo. In that ocassion he had an actor of the original movie "Richard Creena" and in KK4 is "Pat Morita" curiously both the teachers.

That's hilarious
you makje an interesting point there.
I haven't seen the fourth Karate Kid so I can't comment on that.
But I can without hesitation say that the first Karate Kid was the best of the series. It's a classic film.

Honestly, I would have been happy if they never made a sequel to KK. I loved that film and with each sequel they made, they tore a little more integrity out of the characters.
I might have been satisfied if they added the original Cobra Kai's somewhere in the mix but they didn't.
KK4 seemed to be a rehash of the first but with bad acting and a girl. KK 1 is awesome and that's all that really matters I guess.

The Karate Kid 4/ The next Karate kid...
DUH!!!
But infairness, there are some interesting moments there but I think a KARATE movie is VERY boring without a tournament....
...and also,,, they disregard my honey there (Ralph Macchio..)
Grrrr....

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS ON THE ISSUE, I LIKE "THE NEXT KARATE KID" I FEEL THE GREATEST ASSET TO THAT FILM IS THAT THEY DID NOT CALL IT "THE KARATE KID PART 4", BUT "THE NEXT KARATE KID"! TO SHOW THAT THEY WERE MOVING ON IN THIS MOVIE. THIS EXPLAINS THE PASSING MENTION OF "DANIEL-SAN". PERSONALLY, I WOULD RATHER HAVE THIS FILM, FLAWS AND ALL, THAN NO 4TH KARATE KID FILM AT ALL! IT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER, AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN THOUGHT OUT A LITTLE MORE, BUT YOU COULD PROBABLY SAY THAT WITH ANY MOVIE, THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO WOULD DISMISS THE ORIGINAL "KARATE KID" AS SAPPY, TEEN-MOVIE, CRAP! IT'S ALL A MATTER OF OPINION, BUT MINE IS THAT "THE NEXT KARATE KID" IS ALRIGHT, AND SHOULD NOT BE TREATED LIKE "THE BLACK SHEEP OF THE KK FRANCHISE". THAT IS WHY I HONOR IT ON MY SITE, www.geocities.com/larussorules/main.html (sorry, last time, i swear) ALSO, I SERIOUSLY HOPE A SECTION FOR "THE KARATE KID PART 3" APPEARS ON THIS SITE!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT THEY COME UP WITH FOR IT!

Ahhh can we stop calling it Karate Kid 4...just let it be known as the Illigitimate Child of Karate Kid.
Posted by Claude Willis (Member # 2489) on :
HEY "THISSCHOOLSUCKS" DID YOU NOT READ MY POST BEFORE YOU POSTED? I CLEARLY POINTED OUT THAT IT IS CALLED "THE NEXT KARATE KID", AND NOT, I REPEAT, NOT!!! "THE KARATE KID PART 4"!!!! THEY USED THE WORD "NEXT" TO SIGNIFY THEY WERE MOVING ON WITH THE SERIES, IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE AN EXTENSION OF THE OTHER THREE, OTHER THAN THAT IT TAKES PLACE IN THE SAME WORLD, AND IS MR. MIYAGI'S NEXT ADVENTURE.
Posted by Ali_with_an_i (Member # 27) on :
WHY MUST YOU SHOUT? TURN OFF YOUR CAPS PLEASE! YOU'VE MADE YOUR POINT!
Ahhh, anyway....I don't care weather they called it KK4 or TNKK, either way some Hollywood exec was just trying to capitalize off the popularity of the first three and sadly failed. It was the same story re-tooled with a few new characters. There was no point in making it, weather it was "good" or not. It was already done, and it was so unoriginal it made me wanna puke.
Although if the Cobra Kai's were in it, I might have had a lil respect for it....maybe.

The worst part is when Miyagui said he had Taught Karate to the girl´s grandfather, wich contradicts when Danny asked him if he had taught someone before, and he said NO !!....what a shame!!
