Hi all! My team is considering transitioning to first-price auctions for our ad campaigns, but I’m not sure how this shift might affect our bidding strategies. Have any of you made this switch? I’d love to hear your experiences or suggestions for making the transition smoother!

I completely get why this transition might seem daunting—it’s a big shift in how ad bidding works. First-price auctions require more precise bidding strategies because the winner pays their full bid, unlike second-price auctions where they’d only pay the next-highest amount. Making this switch successfully involves understanding the dynamics of first-price auctions and how to optimize bids without overpaying. A blog I came across recently explains this process really well, outlining how advertisers can smoothly transition from second-price to first price auction - https://smartyads.com/blog/smartyads-dual-auction-soft-transition-towards-first-price-auctions . It also discusses how this impacts campaign costs and strategies you can use to stay competitive. I think it’ll give you a much clearer picture of what to expect and how to handle the change effectively!

Thank you for sharing this! My team has been debating whether to make the switch to first-price auctions, and this blog sounds like the perfect guide to help us figure things out. I’ve been looking for advice on how to optimize our bids without overspending, so I’m really excited to read it. I appreciate the suggestion—it’s exactly what we needed!
