I realize this is on the Blu-ray/DVD for everyone to see now.. but I remember Ronnie aka NowhereGirl at the time posting the alt ending to "Night of the Creeps" a few years ago that I had previously thought might just have been an urban legend.

One of the best b-movie horror films ever! Great quotes and scenes mentioned.. but my fav is the tape recorder message from J.C. .. totally haunting and quite chilling.

Night of the Creeps would have rank somewhere in my top 10 favorite horror movies from the '80s. I'm glad to see that its reputation has grown in the years since it was originally released. A laugh-out-loud performance by Tom Atkins, effective SFX and make-up, a nice soundtrack, the lovely Jill Whitlow, memorable quotes, and a variety of monsters: what more could you want?

Zach's hit it right on the nose! This is one of those little movies that went under the radar on original release. It's reputation has soared since then. Everyone I've ever recommended this to has really liked it. Tom Atkins never ceases to make me smile. He's just one of those classic, likeable character actors who will work forever. (He's hilarious in the recent Nic Cage movie "Drive Angry" too.) It's not just that Fred Dekker's dialogue is funny. Atkins delivers it perfectly with just the appropriate amount of wry detachment. I'm with Valley on this one...the first time I watched this movie, I think I had turned my back to get something or went into the kitchen but I could still hear the audio and this is the part that was on...it stopped me in my tracks! It is definitely one of the creepiest things I've ever heard and I think it's the whole concept that J.C. is still somewhat himself but changing...ugh! Man, I could hear it in my head now! That's when you know it's good!
And the cast, well, you can't beat it! I was shocked to see the girl from the perfume counter in Weird Science in a more prominent role !

Tom Atkins, The MAN! The rest of the cast, lots of funny guys and lovely girls. The soundtrack, nice 50s tunes and some good 80s songs. The magical 80s atmosphere, nothing can beat this scene: magical night of the creeps The Fred Dekker factor, i mean this dude was a genius. (ok, there is Robocop 3 but even geniuses can have one mistake ) Comedy-horror-sci-fi, perfectly balanced.
Bernie, you are missing a lot if you are never going to watch this one. I mean, it´s not your average zombie flick, that´s for sure.
Simply put, Night of the Creeps is in my all time top 5.

aTomik, Tom is the man!! I got to meet him at a horror convention a few years back and talked to him about all the films he's done and he was just incredibly friendly!! I told him "Halloween 3" is one of my top 2 films and he told me he loves it but only me, him and 7 other guys do!!

NotC is one of my favorite 80's movies. i love the way it starts.. in black and white.. taking place in the 50s. i agree with aTomik, it's not a typical 'zombie' movie. there's more going on in the story..like the college stuff, the boy trying to impress the popular girl, and of course, Detective Cameron with his sarcasm and funny quotes.
i think i may have said this before, but when i first saw NotC, i was asleep and woke up to it on tv, right on the part where JC is in the restroom and the slugs are crawling around. it freaked me out and i ended up not being able turn it off ha.
i like H3 .. but my buddy Valley isn't a fan. he said the fact that i like it, is kind of a deal breaker for him haha. kidding, Val.
but i love Halloween 2. it's not super creepy like the original, but i saw it many times as a kid on cable and so it's a part of my childhood.

And touching as well. I tear up usually when I see that scene. This has now become my favorite movie, after owning the DVD and watching it with all the extras.

I love this movie. I'm just sorry I didn't get to see it in a theater when it was originally released because it didn't stay in theaters for that long. I remember the TV ads "The good news is your dates are here. What's the bad news? They're dead." Too bad the TV spots aren't on the DVD or online anywhere. Once it started airing on HBO, I finally watched it and really enjoyed it. It's one of those movies I used to watch anytime I caught it playing on TV. After kind of forgetting about it for a while, I caught it again in the late '90s on cable again. Then, last fall, I see a banner ad for a website called Fearnet that shows horror movies. I click on it and notice that Night of the Creeps was featured on their homepage at the time. After not seeing it for years, I watch it a little before last Halloween and fell in love with it all over again. It was even better than I had remembered. When I found out that it and The Monster Squad were on DVD, I soon ordered copies from Amazon.
I was surprised to find out that Fred Dekker had not done much work compared to most directors since the '80s because these 2 films had not done that well, but that they had gained cult status in about the last 20 years. I'm glad this movie and Dekker himself are finally gaining the recognition they deserve. Any threads here on Mosnter Squad? Now THAT one, I did get to see in a theater, a drive-in, in fact, which is kind of funny since Dekker mentions on the DVD he used to go to drive-ins as a kid and see horror movies.

Oh yeah and it's awesome because of not only the great acting, direction and story, filled with classic horror/sci-fi references but also because of "Zombies. Exploding heads. Creepy crawlies...and a date for the formal. This is classic Spanky."

couple of actors i always thought were really cool is the late great roy scheider and tom atkins,i don't know what it is about them but i just imagine them to be on the same wavelength as the rest of us and generally being a couple of down to earth friendly guys!
night of the creeps is definitely one of my favourite 80s horror flicks,simply put it's a classic! p.s if you've got a blu ray player the region free u.s release is a must,picture and sound are excellent as are the extras!

Any recommended type of high def TV to get to watch the blu ray on? Something else I forgot to mention that's mentioned on the DVD is that those frat guys you see, other than Brad, whose played by Allan Kayser, who went on to star on Mama's Family, are played by the special and makeup effects guys Howard Berger, Robert Kurtzman and David Miller. I've heard Greg Nicotero reportedly being an extra, is that true? I think the trivia track on the DVD said it wasn't.
Anybody know where I can find any TV ads for this movie? And what's the name of the song that plays during the frat party at the beginning of the movie? Sounds like Blue Love or something? Unless it's Nightmares?

Yeah, that's it, Blue Kiss. I was wondering because I didn't see it mentioned on the sountrack listing online. It's probably in the closing credits though. What about when it says on the screen Pledge Week 1986, what song is playing during that part, when we first see Chris and JC in the movie?

I didn't even realize that until years later when I saw her appearance in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and when I started seeing her solo videos on MTV, because I wasn't a fan of the Go Gos, so I didn't know about her until her solo career.

That is indeed Martha Davis and she cowrote Nightmares with Kevin M. Gilbert.
