So I was riding home from work recently listening to a DJ on the amazing XM Radio First Wave and it turns out to be none other than Richard Blade - DTV Host from "Girls Just Want To Have Fun"!
GJWTHF is kind of a guilty pleasure flick for me...by no means a fav, but a fun movie to watch on occasion. Sarah Jessica Parker, Helen Hunt, and Shannon Doherty are excellent in this movie. Also, it is great to see Kristi Somers from "Hardbodies" in a different role too.
When you watch the movie...tell me this tune doesn't stick in your head for awhile: Q-Feel - Dancing In HeavenPosts: 7845 | From: Smiling and glancing in awe in the back of a limo | Registered: Mar 2003 | Site Updates: 22

This is one of my wife's favorite 80's movies and she's seen it many times. We have a copy on DVD, but for some reason, I've never watched it.

Live, from Chicago: America's number one dance show, Dance TV, is on the air!
"Velcro. Next to the Walkman and tab it is the coolest invention of the 20th century!"
Helen Hunt was so great in the 80's.. did anyone else like the movie "Quarterback Princess"?
"Oh, I like this. Sort of Rebel Without a Cause meets Sound of Music... you're taking a fashion risk. I like that. Just don't do it on camera! "
What about the Chicago crew? Veronica? Earl?

There are so many things I love about this movie..Jonathan Silverman and his membership to the Archie and jughead fan club, shannen doherty's "don't throw a mental, dad" line, Helen hunt's grasshopper hat, natalie the obligatory snotty rich girl, and of course some great shots of my city, Chicago (most of the movie was shot in LA though, recognize the high school from nightmare on elm street?). This is a movie that I think everyone can appreciate and find humorous on some level.

Veronica .. some of the things you just mentioned are exactly why I enjoy this movie. I'm actually a card carrying member of the Archie & Jughead Fan Club because of it!
Do you have the Alex Brown tune "Shout"?
I love the scene where Helen Hunt shows up at Sarah Jessica Parker's window to break her out.. only she appears hanging upside down with a huge smile on her face.
I think it is so cool that Richard Blade is a DJ for XM's First Wave!
Bamersy.. At first I thought you were going to say "Next of Kin" because you knew I was from Kentucky.. .. "Trancers" is a great flick!

i would have seen this if sarah Parker wasn't in it..i kinda find her to be an annoying twit...so I made it a point to steer clear of most movies she's in.

Richard Blade is an icon of sorts. It's fun to see him in this. Lots of 80s goodness included in this movie.

Ronnie.. on your many viewings.. did you ever notice that the security window sticker when Janey gets caught sneaking back into her house says 'SANDS SECURITY SYSTEMS' .. as in J.P. Sands. Nice little ironic touch don't you think?

Pretty good movie, gang, certainly the best low-budget "Footloose/Flashdance/etc." knockoff by New World. I understand that 20th Century Fox is doing a remake, which like just about every remake of a film under 30 years old, seems like a waste to me. Oh well, I suppose every decade needs one of these...

During the dance competition at the end, the host announces that one of the dance couples is from "Park Ridge, IL." That is actually the town I live in right now. Pretty cool!!
